The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is getting the Netflix movie treatment. Liz Tigelaar is set to adapt Taylor Jenkins Reid’s bestselling 2017 novel, according to Deadline. Once the movie news was officially confirmed in March 2022, fans immediately began revealing their top choices for an actress to play the iconic Evelyn Hugo.

What Is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo About?
The book tells the epic story of Hollywood legend Evelyn Hugo. In her later years, the reclusive Evelyn picks reporter Monique Grant to tell her life story. Evelyn goes through her memories and chronicles her rise to fame in the Golden Age of Hollywood. She gets candid about her seven marriages and what ultimately led to their demise. However, there’s a reason that Evelyn has chosen Monique to hear her story, and that reason is a total bombshell.
Who Is Going To Play Evelyn Hugo?
“Nobody is going to figure out who’s playing Evelyn Hugo, by who I am following on Instagram,” Taylor told Marie Claire Australia in September 2022. “And I think they think that they will, but I’m sorry to break it to you… I am friends with people. That’s why I follow them. It does not mean I am working with them. People think that they have got the whole cast figured out, but I can tell you that at this point, we have not cast a single person.”
Netflix has not announced any casting news for The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo movie as of January 2023. However, that has not stopped fans from dream casting the upcoming film. Taylor confirmed in an Instagram Live that the actress playing Evelyn Hugo will be a Latina actress.

The legendary Rita Moreno is pretty much the only choice fans have to play the older version of Evelyn Hugo. Like Evelyn, Rita is a powerhouse Latina actress. Rita’s illustrious career in Hollywood has spanned 7 decades. The 91-year-old would embody the role of Evelyn Hugo perfectly.
