The revelation from Disney and Pixar that Toy Story 5 was in development surprised many viewers. While the series has achieved immense popularity as an animated franchise, the general consensus was that the fourth installment would mark its conclusion. However, the fifth chapter is now a reality. Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), and their companions are set to embark on a new adventure involving modern technology. For those who have already experienced the fifth film in cinemas, inquiries about a Toy Story 6 are already surfacing.
So, is a sixth movie a possibility, or will the fifth film serve as the definitive end?
Hollywood Life has compiled all the available information regarding a potential sixth installment in the Toy Story saga below.
Will There Be a Toy Story 6?
While Pixar has not officially confirmed Toy Story 6, the creative team and a significant portion of the cast have expressed enthusiasm for returning for another chapter in the lives of Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and their friends.
Director and renowned animator Andrew Stanton shared his thoughts with Entertainment Weekly in April 2026 concerning a possible future narrative for Bonnie and the toys. He had previously considered the fourth film to be “the perfect place to conclude the saga.” Fortunately, a fifth film was eventually greenlit.

Stanton indicated to the publication that he believes, with just a couple of months dedicated to conceptualizing ideas, two additional Toy Story movies could be produced.
“That’s why I feel like it can keep going,” Stanton stated.
How Many Toy Story Movies Will Pixar Make?
According to director Stanton, two more films could potentially follow, contingent on the development of compelling storylines and the cast’s willingness to reprise their roles. In his interview with EW, the voice actor and co-writer envisions himself working on more Pixar projects until he is “in a rocking chair somewhere. And I will always have a strong opinion about this.” While he could not definitively say if this referred to Toy Story, Stanton remarked that this “is probably the best way I can leave my stamp at Pixar — teaching others how this is done.”
Based on Stanton’s remarks, Toy Story 6 and 7 might become a reality in the future.
