Who Is the Killer in Scarpetta? Season 1 Ending Explained
The first season exposes two murderers. The penultimate episode of season 1 reveals the culprit from the prior events as 911 dispatch operator Roy McCorkle. Dr. Scarpetta locates him, is lured to his residence, and eliminates him in protection.
Subsequently, the imitator is exposed as Officer Matt Ryan, who is accountable for the demises of Gwen and Cami. Dr. Scarpetta is isolated in her dwelling when Matt infiltrates the premises with the intention of strangling her.
Matt initially details his rationale for the homicides: witnessing what Roy inflicted upon his initial victim, Lori, revolutionized him, and Matt confesses that the “rawness” of her blood “transformed” him. Following his confession to the killings of Gwen and Cami, he sets upon the doctor, though Kay manages to evade his grip sufficiently to seize a baseball bat. Concealing herself, Matt ascends the staircase, at which point Kay emerges to assault him with the bat on several occasions. He plummets down the staircase, and the lens shifts to reveal Kay’s astonished visage.
The concluding instant of the season 1 finale portrays an individual not visible on camera opening the entrance as Dr. Scarpetta’s pupils dilate in shock.
