Another cherished sitcom from the Disney era is officially set to make a return. After the achievements of past nostalgic resurgences such as Raven’s Home and Wizards of Waverly Place, enthusiasts can anticipate the revival of Malcolm in the Middle.
The upcoming revival, formally named Malcolm in the Middle: Life’s Still Unfair, was revealed in December of 2024 and is scheduled to premiere on April 10, 2026, roughly two decades following the conclusion of the original series. Upon its announcement, Disney Branded Television leader Ayo Davis lauded the celebrated sitcom for its comedic style, heart, and accessibility, deeming it a “benchmark” series that resonated with viewers of all ages.
Per Deadline, Davis expressed, “Malcolm in the Middle stands as a benchmark sitcom, capturing the essence of familial life with humor, heart, and approachability.” She further stated, “Its entertaining and genuine depiction of a delightfully disarrayed family connected with audiences universally, and we’re thrilled to embrace the original actors once again, bringing that enchantment back to life. With Linwood Boomer and the creative team leading the way, these fresh episodes will possess all the laughter, pranks, and playful disruption that fans loved — coupled with a handful of surprises, underscoring the enduring appeal of this show.”

Who Will Star in Malcolm in the Middle?
According to Deadline, the original performers Frankie Muniz, Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are set to reclaim their roles as Malcolm and his parents, Hal and Lois, for the four-episode revived series.
In March of 2025, Variety reported that Malcolm’s brothers, Francis and Reese, portrayed by Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield, respectively, will be coming back for the reboot. Though, Erik Per Sullivan, who formerly played Dewey, will not be revisiting his role. Instead, the part will be taken over by actor Caleb Ellsworth-Clark.
Furthermore, Anthony Timpano has been chosen for the part of Malcolm’s youngest sibling, Jamie, who was seen as a baby and toddler in the initial series. Vaughan Murrae will step into the role of Malcolm’s newest sibling, Kelly, whose arrival was hinted at in the final episode when Lois is shown with a positive pregnancy result. Keeley Karsten will embody Malcolm’s daughter, Leah.
What Will the Malcolm in the Middle Reboot Be About?
As stated in Variety, the formal synopsis reveals: “Malcolm (Muniz) and his daughter get entangled in the family’s disorder when Hal (Cranston) and Lois (Kaczmarek) necessitate his attendance for their 40th wedding anniversary gathering.” The relaunch pledges to display Malcolm as a matured adult with a daughter of his own, injecting both newness and nostalgia into the cherished series.
