The Love Island series is quick to dismiss contestants when any scandals come to light. The most recent instance involving the American adaptation occurred mere days before its eighth season was set to debut, as Vasana Montgomery was abruptly dismissed from the show without ever entering the Villa.
As of this writing, Vasana has not issued any public comment concerning her expulsion from the program. Discover which Love Island participants have been terminated from the show in recent years, along with the reasons why, outlined below.
Yulissa Escobar
Yulissa Escobar was expelled from the Villa shortly after the premiere of season 7 in 2025. The production team removed Yulissa subsequent to the emergence of a video in which she used a racial slur.

“Initially, I wish to express my apologies for employing a term I had no right to use,” Yulissa stated in a 2025 declaration. “Podcast excerpts from years prior have recently resurfaced, and I intend to address this directly. Within those excerpts, I utilized a word that I should never have uttered, a racial epithet. I used it out of ignorance, without fully grasping its significance, historical context, or the pain associated with it. My intention was not to cause offense or harm, but I now acknowledge that intent does not negate impact. The repercussions of that word are substantial. It is linked to generational suffering, and it is not a term for me to use.”
Cierra Ortega
Cierra Ortega was compelled to depart the Villa during season 7 after a past incident surfaced where she used an anti-Asian slur. She offered an apology for her conduct in a subsequent social media video.

“I want to commence by addressing, not solely those whom I have wronged or deeply offended, but most importantly, the entire Asian community,” Cierra expressed. “I am profoundly, genuinely, sincerely, so very sorry. I had no awareness that the word carried such significant pain and harm, nor of the history it encompassed, otherwise I would never have employed it. I harbored no malicious intent when I used it. However, that is absolutely no justification, as intent does not excuse a lack of knowledge.”
Vasana Montgomery
Vasana did not even make an appearance on the program before her removal. Merely days after her selection was publicized, she was withdrawn from the eighth season of Love Island USA prior to its commencement, following the circulation of a video depicting her using a racial slur.
