When Was Season 2 of Landman Released?
Season 2 of the successful Paramount+ series debuted on November 16, 2025. Each week will bring a fresh episode to the streaming service until the season 2 finale is broadcast on January 18, 2026.
Is Landman Returning for Season 3?
Yes — Landman has been given the green light for a third season. Paramount+ officially announced the renewal in early December of 2025, as season 2 was still being shown.
In the days leading up to the premiere of season 2, cast members had already suggested that the plot was far from over. Mark Collie previously told Hollywood Life that there were “more stories to tell,” adding, “The longer [the show] goes, I’m here because I love it.”
Details such as the release date and number of episodes for season 3 have not been revealed yet. In March of 2026, Michelle told The Hollywood Reporter that she hadn’t “seen any scripts” and didn’t know “exact dates yet” but was hopeful that filming would commence in the summer.

What Was the Conclusion of Landman Season 1?
The season 1 finale wrapped up with a death and a fresh start. Billy’s character, Tommy, is informed that his friend Monty (Jon Hamm) would pass away due to his heart attack, so he wants Tommy to succeed him as president of M-Tex and become the executor of his estate with Monty’s wife, Cami (Demi).
However, Tommy is taken captive by local cartel head Jimenez, who threatened M-Tex’s drilling sites throughout the entirety of season 1. But Tommy’s situation changes when the cartel boss, Galino (Andy), kills off his men and reveals that he wants Tommy to be his partner instead of continuing as adversaries.
What Was the Reason for Monty’s Death in Landman?
Monty’s death was part of the plan from the beginning of Landman. During a previous interview with TV Insider, co-creator Christian Wallace said they had been hinting at Monty’s decline all through season 1.
“Yeah, you kind of drop these little pieces throughout the entire season,” he noted. “There’s Monty checking his heart rate on his watch or his wife Cami telling him no more coffee, and just little things that were dropped this entire time to kind of let you know that something’s going on so that when it does finally happen, it’s not just completely out of nowhere.”
Christian went on, “But you also don’t wanna be too heavy-handed about it and just telegraph that explicitly to the viewers. So, it’s just kind of a matter of trying to strike that balance of letting people know that there’s an issue without making it just the only thing that they can think about.”
