The halls of Godolkin University are permanently shutting down. In a surprising action for even the most devoted followers of The Boys world, Prime Video pulled the plug on Gen V following only two seasons. The verdict has prompted many to speculate on the reasons the derivative series will not be getting a third installment.
Producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg issued a combined message via Deadline, stating, “While we would love to extend the revelry for another season at Godolkin, we are dedicated to carrying on the Gen V characters’ narratives in The Boys season 5 and other VCU ventures coming up. You’ll encounter them down the line.”
Here’s what we understand concerning the show’s sudden conclusion and the destiny of the property.

What Number of The Boys Spin-Offs Exist?
The realm of The Boys has broadened beyond its main offering. Gen V represented the initial live-action offshoot, shadowing a collection of young supes as they navigate existence and fierce rivalries at Vought’s premier learning institution. Prior to that, the franchise unveiled the animated compilation The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
The Boys growth is not abating! An additional live-action program, Vought Rising, is already in development with a predicted release date in 2027. The series will explore the inception of Vought during the 1950s.
What Led to The Boys Spinoff Gen V Being Canceled?
Despite Gen V garnering respectable feedback and a dedicated group of viewers, its termination seems to stem from a blend of calculated and performance-related aspects. As reported, the show’s discontinuation harmonizes with the wider trajectory of The Boys franchise as it nears its end. The primary sequence is presently telecasting its fifth and concluding season, and the artistic emphasis has transitioned toward concluding that core storyline.
Furthermore, Gen V‘s viewing figures are said to have been less than what was required for a third season. Nonetheless, the ending doesn’t indicate the saga is entirely finished. Characters featured in Gen V are anticipated to make appearances in The Boys season 5 and possibly in upcoming offshoots, as indicated by Kripke and Goldberg.
Will There Be a Season 3 of Gen V?
No, Gen V will not be revived for a season 3. The show has been formally shelved after a pair of seasons, and its plot will wrap up with season 2.
