Euphoria will officially be back for a third season — and following a couple years of waiting, enthusiasts are finally getting a premiere date. HBO has verified that the much-anticipated season three will debut in April 2026, indicating the program’s first fresh installments since the beginning of 2022. The production encountered various obstacles throughout the years, and the ensemble and staff also underwent the devastating passing of Angus Cloud, who unfortunately passed away at 25 years old in July of 2023.

Regardless of the break, Euphoria is still known as one of HBO’s largest and most discussed triumphs, thus making a third season inevitable. The broadcasting company revived the series pretty early, and back in November of 2023, HBO higher-ups validated their trust in the mastermind Sam Levinson and the cast.

“Sam [Levinson], Zendaya, and the entire ensemble and team of Euphoria have elevated season 2 to unbelievable heights, challenging convention and narrative form, while still keeping its core,” stated Francesca Orsi, HBO’s Executive Vice President of Programming. “We are beyond honored to work with this gifted, supremely skilled team and excited to carry on our journey alongside them into season 3.”

As anticipation grows, the actors haven’t been exactly quiet regarding what’s in store. Back in October 2025, Sydney Sweeney hinted at the upcoming season while speaking with E! News — and didn’t hold anything back. “Dildos,” Sydney expressed. “Hold onto those dildos. It’s Cassie, what do you expect?”

HBO has stated that season 3 of Euphoria will be launching on April 12, 2026.

The show’s holdup in production was generally brought on by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA demonstrations. When asked about a potential launch date in 2024, Zendaya informed Entertainment Tonight at the show’s For Your Consideration event in April of 2022: “I think that could be the case. I genuinely have no clue. There [are] some executives who are more knowledgeable than I am, so you should probably inquire with them. I’ll be tied up for a little while.”

In February 2023, Vogue revealed in a Maude Apatow profile that season 2 was “not expected to start filming until the second part of 2023.” Maude confessed that she has no knowledge about season 3. “We should be acquiring scripts and finding out about next season reasonably soon, but I’m totally unaware!” she included.

The following year, Nika King — who plays Leslie Bennet, Zendaya’s character Rue’s mom — provided a TikTok video of herself on stage, revealing that she was unsure of when Euphoria was making a comeback despite being asked by many fans.

“Season 3 is being released … I really don’t f–king know,” Nika said to an audience that was cracking up. “Don’t ask me. I don’t have an answer. It’s one of those things. People will say, ‘We need season 3.’ And I say, ‘Girl, I need season 3, too!’ I haven’t been able to pay my rent for half a year, and Zendaya’s off in Paris at Fashion Week. I’m all like, ‘Girl, come back home! I need you. Mama needs you.’”

Shortly after, HBO made a statement confirming that production is currently being held up.

“HBO and Sam Levinson are still very much invested in making an amazing third season,” the broadcasting company explained in their statement. “During the wait, we are letting our sought-after ensemble pursue different opportunities.”

Zendaya is coming back as Rue. The actress allegedly “closed a massive renegotiation” and is expected to earn $1 million for each installment in season 2, according to Puck.

On August 24, 2022, Barbie Ferreira announced that she would be passing on season 3. She verified that she would be leaving the show via her Instagram Stories. Barbie portrayed Kat Hernandez for the initial 2 seasons.

“After 4 years of having the chance to portray the most unique and enigmatic character Kat, I’m sadly saying a teary-eyed goodbye,” Barbie wrote. “I hope a lot of you were able to find something to relate to in her like I did and that she brought you happiness to get to witness her evolve into the character she is today. I invested all my love and care into her and I wish you guys could tell. Sending love to you, Katherine Hernandez.”

Barbie posted a picture of a drawing from her co-star Hunter Schafer. The drawing depicted her character from Euphoria.

Despite there being some speculation regarding Zendaya’s time on the show and the possibility that she might be killed off, HBO’s Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys set the record straight. “It’s difficult to picture doing [the] program without her, But, then again, that would have to be something [for] her and Sam to talk about,” Casey revealed to TVLine. He then included, “She will be in season 3.”

Dominic Fike, who joined the show in season 2 as Elliot, stated on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon that fans should “absolutely” anticipate him coming back for Euphoria season 3. Dominic also works as a musician and has been given the opportunity to determine if (or when) his character will be departing the series.

“Sam was always giving me the option to leave. He would say things like, ‘Whenever you want to go be a musician, man, you should let me know, I’ll kill you [and write you off the show],’” Dominic informed GQ.

Season 2 came to a close with what appeared to be Ashtray’s passing during a shootout. However, Javon “Wanna” Walton isn’t completely writing off the chance that we might get to see Ash again sometime.

“Well, you get to see [Fez] get arrested, so I’m certain that he is going to be in the back of a police vehicle. And with Ashtray, we’re not entirely certain if he’s passed away, considering that you didn’t see a single drop of blood, right? Plus, you didn’t catch a glimpse of him falling. You could hear the gunshot, but he wasn’t shown getting shot. Therefore, there [are] slight elements that may potentially bring him back for another season,” Javon revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

Months later in August 2022, Javon appeared to have come to the conclusion that Ash didn’t escape the raid alive. “I do believe that Ash has passed on,” Javon admitted to ET. “Even though I had lots of love for Euphoria, I’ve made the decision to move on.”

Eric Dane is fully convinced that Cal will come back for season 3. “There’s going to be some redemption,” he explained to Variety. “I mean, that’s the route he’s going down. I can’t fathom Cal’s life from being isolated. It makes it tough to place Cal into the narrative when he’s locked up.”

The entire cast was heavily occupied for a period of time, so that’s the reason the show didn’t pick up filming for season 3 immediately. As for Zendaya’s lover Tom Holland, an uncredited appearance on Euphoria still hasn’t occurred yet. The Spider-Man: No Way Home actor has voiced his wish to show up on the popular teen series at some point. “I have been requesting this for quite some time, and it hasn’t happened yet and I’m highly upset. I must have visited Euphoria at least 30 times this season,” Tom stated to IMDb when talking about season 2.

He stressed, “I would like to be on Euphoria!” Zendaya responded, “Alright, I’ll speak with some folks.” A handful of fans believed they noticed Tom in the crowd while Lexi’s play was occurring in season 2, and Zendaya has remained timid regarding whether it was Tom or not. “Could be. It could be true. Can’t verify or deny. The world may never be aware,” the actress explained to Access.

Angus Cloud’s Death

Angus Cloud tragically died on July 31, 2023, at just 25 years of age. His loved ones issued a statement announcing his passing: “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to bid farewell to a remarkable person today. As an artist, a friend, a brother and a son, Angus was memorable to all of us for so many reasons. Last week he buried his dad and was intensely bothered by this loss. The only consolation we have is knowing that Angus is now back together with his father, who was his dearest friend. Angus was transparent about his struggles with mental health and we’re hoping that his passing can serve as a reminder to others that they are not on their own and shouldn’t battle this in silence.”

They finished with, “We hope the world can remember him for his sense of humor, laughter and adoration for all. We are requesting privacy at this moment as we are still coping with this devastating loss.”

Angus was grieved by his fellow Euphoria cast members, including the mastermind Sam Levinson. “There was simply no one like Angus. He was way too unique, too skilled and much too young to leave us so soon. He also had his struggles, like many of us, with addiction and depression,” he explained to The Hollywood Reporter in a statement. “I’m hoping that he realized how many hearts he touched. I had love for him. And I always will. May he rest in peace and God Bless his loved ones.”

HBO made a statement through social media as well: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was tremendously talented and a precious member of the HBO and Euphoria family. Our deepest condolences go out to his friends and his family during this difficult time.”

Almost a year prior to his death, Angus shared that he was delighted to start putting in work on season 3. “I’m looking forward to getting back to working with everyone,” Angus informed E! News at that moment. “I feel like it’s been way too long. I’m simply looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back to working on set.” At the time, he confessed that he was “not sure what to expect” with regard to Fezco’s arc in season 3. He then included, “But knowing [Euphoria creator] Sam [Levinson], it will be good.”

How Did Season 2 of ‘Euphoria’ End?

Euphoria season 2 concluded in a dramatic style, with Lexi’s play achieving its peak. Cassie stormed the stage subsequent to getting dumped by Nate and had a complete breakdown in front of the audience. Lexi and Cassie’s mom ultimately had to end the quarrel between the siblings on stage. Maddy then ended up running to the stage to confront Cassie, and Cassie ran away from the auditorium while Maddy followed right after her.

Cassie revealed to Maddy that Nate dumped her, and Maddy wasn’t in the slightest bit shocked. “Don’t sweat it, this is only the start,” Maddy stated to Cassie.

As all the drama was going down at the high school, Nate drove to his dad’s construction site to come to terms with everything once and for all. Nate confessed that he discovered Cal’s stash of sex tapes when he was only 11, and the footage he had seen led to lasting trauma. Cal apologized for all the pain he put Nate through, but his apology was ignored.

Nate was motivated to get his revenge and took out a flash drive packed with Cal’s sexual relations over the years. Nate observed as his father was apprehended by the police.

A flashback revealed that Rue went to pay a visit to Elliot days prior to the play. She admitted that he was the one who saved her life. Elliot sang a song for Rue and inquired if they could be friends once more. Rue then brought up that Elliot told her that they were a bad influence on each other, and Elliot didn’t oppose that.

Once Lexi’s play had concluded, Jules confessed to Rue that she adored her and missed her. Rue didn’t express anything, but planted a kiss on Jules’ forehead. Rue’s voiceover revealed that she was able to stay sober throughout the entirety of the school year.

Regarding Fezco, he tried everything he could to make it to Lexi’s play, but it simply wasn’t in the cards. Faye was able to give Fezco a heads up about Custer working with the police the moment he was about to take off. Ashtray disregarded the script and stabbed Custer in the neck. Fezco realized that the police would be there shortly, so he placed his fingerprints on the knife to have it appear that he was the one who killed Custer.

Ashtray wouldn’t let Fezco take the fall for Custer and Mouse’s deaths, so he barricaded himself in the bathroom with a handful of guns. The police broke down Fez’s door and started shooting. Fezco ended up getting shot and begged Ashtray to give up. The police then broke down the bathroom door and found Ashtray appearing to be unconscious on the ground. Ashtray then sprung up and ended the officer.

Following that, the camera went to Fezco’s face, and a single gunshot was heard from afar. Fezco and Faye were apprehended, and Fezco’s unopened letter to Lexi remained laying on the floor.

What Will Happen in Season 3?

Seasons 1 and 2 both included 8 episodes. The third season is anticipated to consist of 8 episodes too, but HBO hasn’t verified the official amount just yet. Plot specifics for Euphoria season 3 are being strictly withheld, but you can expect a continuation of the story arcs from the conclusion of season 2.

Regarding Zendaya’s Elle September 2023 cover story, Sam revealed that he is envisioning season 3 as a “film noir.” Via Rue, the showrunner has plans to “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.”

The program will more than likely address Angus’ absence. Since Fezco was apprehended at the conclusion of season 2, he could be offscreen in prison. In anticipation of his death, Angus still had hope for his character. “Anyone can undergo a change, you know? He’s a survivor. He’s set on figuring out how to get the most out of any situation,” the actor informed The Hollywood Reporter. He also stated that Fez is “going to have some time to sit and think” about all that happened to Ashtray, hinting at Fez’s possible future being behind bars.

Cassie revealed a totally fresh side of herself when she had a breakdown regarding Lexi’s play. Her back and forth relationship with Nate is far from finished, and Sydney wants to explore more of “evil” Cassie sometime down the line. “There was a little bit of Cassie that I was able to play with once she started mentioning that she’s more unhinged than Maddy during a scene with Nate. She started getting slightly more nasty and shadowy and somber, and not that manic. I would certainly love to play with even more of that side of herself,” Sydney stated to Variety.

Maddy and Cassie’s friendship that has been going on for ages was ruined when Maddy found out that Cassie was hooking up with Nate behind her back. “We obviously end things with Maddy and Cassie’s beautiful friendship destroyed. Which allows viewers to wonder if they will come to terms, [if the] friendship between the two women will prosper or if they will not talk with each other anymore,” Alexa told Entertainment Tonight.

Alexa also provided her thoughts on Maddy’s journey as an individual in season 3. “Maddy is significantly observant and pondering on a lot of what took place between the people who she cared about and figured cared about her,” she stated. “I have a feeling she’s figuring out where she’s off to next and gaining extra independence.”

Regarding Jacob, he’s anticipating Sam Levinson to shock him completely with Nate’s shift in season 3. “With the change in the second season, I’d believe that [season 3] will be a complete shock once again,” he revealed to Entertainment Tonight. “It could just look like a totally different program again.” Could it be that Nate and Jules could become friends — this time for real — following his decision to give her the footage of her intimate encounter with Cal? Truthfully, anything could happen.

Subsequent to a heartbreaking season for Rue, Zendaya believes that there’s “hope” for Rue in season 3. “We took her all the way to, hopefully, rock bottom and a dark place, and we’re hoping to finish with a sense of happiness and joy and to give the impression that there is hope for her in the end,” she shared with Variety.

Colman revealed that Ali will likely get his backstory told in the third season. “I’ve had a couple short conversations with Sam [Levinson], and I have a feeling that he’s going to go big because he’s that kind of artist. The moment you’re feeling good with the program, he has got to pull the rug right out from under you,” he explained to Entertainment Tonight. “I think he really wants to tell Ali’s story. Show some backstory.” This article will continue to be updated as additional Euphoria season 3 details come out.
