A member of the Emily in Paris cast has been lost. During the production of the sixth and final season of the Netflix series, French performer Pierre Deny passed away on May 25, 2026, at the age of 69.
Deny’s daughters shared the news of his passing in a statement released to the newswire AFP. They conveyed, “It is with profound sorrow that we announce the departure of Pierre Deny this Monday (May 25) following a swift and serious affliction with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis).”

Who Was Pierre Deny?
Deny was a highly regarded stage actor who later transitioned into prominent television roles. He commenced his career in the 1980s with theatrical performances before securing consistent roles on television.
The late French artist was recognized for his contributions in productions such as Under the Sun, Une Femme d’Honneur, Cinq Soeurs, Plus Belle La Vie, and Tomorrow Is Ours.
Which Emily in Paris Character Did Pierre Deny Play?
In Emily in Paris, Deny portrayed Louis de Leon, the chief executive officer of the high-end fashion conglomerate JVMA. He made appearances on the show in 2022 and again in 2024.
His co-star, Paul Forman, offered a tribute to Deny via an Instagram Stories message shortly after his death was publicly announced.
“Devastated to learn of Pierre Deny’s passing,” Forman wrote. “It was an honor to collaborate with him and to witness his kindness and talent firsthand. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones. May he rest in peace.”
How Did Pierre Deny Die? His Cause of Death
As previously stated, Deny’s children disclosed that he passed away after experiencing a “sudden and severe case of ALS.”
What Is ALS?
ALS, also identified as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative condition impacting the nerve cells within the brain and spinal cord. According to the Mayo Clinic, the illness commences with muscle spasms, weakness in the limbs, difficulties with swallowing, and/or speech impediments.
Given its progressive nature, the symptoms tend to intensify over time. There is no known cure for ALS, and it is a fatal condition.
Most recently, Euphoria actor Eric Dane succumbed to ALS.
