When Did Madison Chock & Evan Bates First Meet?
Madison and Evan began their skating collaboration in 2011. Since that time, they have participated in several national and international competitions, such as the World Championships. They made their Olympic debut at the 2022 Beijing Games.
Are Chock & Bates Married?
Indeed! The ice dancers have been wed since June 2024. They commenced dating in 2017, about six years into their partnership, and they became engaged in 2022.
In a conversation with People during the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, Madison expressed how her connection with Evan “has grown stronger” as they have matured.

“Of course, we’re now a married couple, but the perspective has just changed,” Evan added. “Skating was always the primary focus, but I think as we’ve gotten older, the relationship has turned into the main focus. Skating, of course, remains a key priority, but it’s almost like our means of fortifying ourselves and our relationship, as well as navigating all of life’s experiences together, and so the appreciation for the partnership has deepened.”
Regarding when they noticed the spark of love between them, Evan stated that it “took some time, actually.”
“We had already been skating together for five years, and we had been friends for 10 years already,” he mentioned. “I believe that navigating the highs and lows of skating, as well as the pressure of consistently striving for your best, really united us.”
As a matter of fact, Madison and Evan began to sense their “romantic attraction” when “things weren’t progressing well” with their on-ice performances. Therefore, they “truly relied on each other during those moments,” he added.

As of February 2026, Madison is 33 years old, and Evan is 36 years old.
