Tom Holland might still have a significant amount of web-slinging ahead of him, but the actor portraying Spider-Man is already contemplating the future of the cinematic universe. During a recent conversation with Esquire UK, Holland shared that should the moment arise to hand over the iconic mantle, he would be enthusiastic about guiding the next performer to assume the celebrated Marvel character. Furthermore, he already has a potential successor in mind.
“Owen Cooper would be a fantastic choice,” Holland conveyed to the publication. “He’s undeniably incredibly skilled and is currently the most talked-about actor around.”
Considering Holland’s well-established propensity for inadvertently revealing Marvel’s confidential information, this remark quickly captured the attention of fans, igniting speculation about whether the actor might be alluding to Spider-Man’s future. Cooper’s career has been on an upward trajectory since his remarkable debut in Netflix’s Adolescence, positioning him as one of Hollywood’s most discussed emerging talents.
Although no official plans for a new Spider-Man have been unveiled, here’s a closer look at Holland’s thoughts on Cooper and what this could signify for the upcoming installments of the Marvel franchise.
Is Tom Holland Done Playing Spider-Man?
No. Holland is slated to reprise his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and there’s been no indication that he is preparing to depart from the character. Nevertheless, the actor has acknowledged that his tenure as Spider-Man is finite and expressed that he is already considering ways to remain involved in the franchise once he is no longer donning the suit.
The actor also mentioned his interest in staying involved behind the scenes, though he admitted that obtaining a producer credit on future Spider-Man films might prove challenging.

Who Will Be the Next Spider-Man?
Neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures has revealed who will eventually succeed Holland as Spider-Man, and Holland remains firmly committed to the role. However, when discussing the future trajectory of the franchise, the actor highlighted Cooper as a young performer he believes possesses the potential to excel as the web-slinger.
Holland’s remarks were made as he contemplated the emerging generation of actors and his aspiration to serve as a mentor to a future Spider-Man. “In the same manner that Robert Downey [Jr.] acted as a significant mentor for me during my initial three films, I would find it fulfilling to be that person for whoever comes next,” Holland stated.
Who Is Owen Cooper?
Cooper is a 16-year-old British actor who garnered critical acclaim for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in Netflix’s Adolescence.
