Following Paramount’s renewal of a multitude of television programs previously this year, its affiliate, CBS, discontinued several well-liked shows in 2026. Whether driven by viewership numbers or production expenses, viewers were dismayed to discover that some beloved series were terminated.
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert was undoubtedly the most contentious cancellation by the network. The declaration was revealed during the prior summer, and viewers assumed political motivations triggered the show’s discontinuation.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
As viewers are already aware, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will record its concluding episode on May 21, 2026. The network notified the late-night personality the prior year and rationalized the cancellation as a “monetary decision.”
“We regard Stephen Colbert as irreplaceable and will discontinue The Late Show franchise in May of 2026,” CBS leaders stated. “We are pleased that Stephen selected CBS as his professional home. He and the program will be commemorated among the greats that have graced late-night television.”
The network continued, “This is purely a fiscal judgment given a demanding landscape in late night. It bears no connection to the show’s performance, subject matter, or other events transpiring at Paramount.”
The Neighborhood
The Neighborhood’s eighth season will mark its ending. However, the ensemble was not astonished by the show’s end, as actor Max Greenfield clarified to Us Weekly.
“Looking around, there are so few … hardly any shows that extend to eight seasons anymore, and there might not be another one ever,” he mentioned. “We might be the last. Consequently, I don’t feel any sorrow that this is wrapping up and am intensely thankful for the eight seasons we were provided.”
Watson
CBS verified that Watson was canceled after a duo of seasons. While the network did not provide a justification, the show garnered mixed reactions from both critics and audiences.
Regardless, enthusiasts were incensed that they would not be granted a third season of their cherished medical drama.
DMV
The CBS sitcom DMV was dismissed after only a solitary season. The series’ final episode is set to broadcast in May.
