What Is Season 4 About?
Bridgerton Season 4 is focused on Benedict Bridgerton’s eagerly awaited romance, taking inspiration from Julia Quinn’s An Offer From a Gentleman. The season starts with Benedict encountering a puzzling woman, Sophie Baek, at a grand masked gathering. Not knowing her real identity or her standing in society, Benedict is drawn to her—only for Sophie to vanish from his world soon afterward.
As the episodes progress, Sophie is shown to be enduring harsh conditions as a domestic worker, shaping a tale of romance reminiscent of Cinderella that touches on themes like social rank, selfhood, and acceptance. The initial episodes depict Benedict’s quest to find the woman he can’t forget, as Sophie battles to get by within the strict confines of the Regency period. Parallel to their developing affection, Season 4 integrates well-known high-society conflicts, familial bonds, and the evolving relationships within the Bridgerton family.
Jess stated during her interview with THR that she was “genuinely thrilled” by the end result.
“We’re approaching the culmination of the writers’ room season, with the scripts nearing completion,” she alluded. “And in my opinion, it stands as some of my and my writers’ room’s peak achievements. Our collaboration has truly harmonized, and we’re operating at full capacity, so I eagerly await the audience’s reaction to our creations.”
