Megan Fox filed for divorce from her husband of 10 years Brian Austin Green on November 25 and is hoping the marriage is dissolved swiftly, People reports, in part because she and her new boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly want to take steps toward building their future together.
“Megan has planned to file for divorce for a while,” a source close to Fox told the outlet. “She and Brian already agreed to a custody plan so Megan hopes the divorce will happen quickly and be uncomplicated.”
Fox and Kelly, whom Fox described as her “twin flame” earlier this year, want to take the next steps in their relationship, the source added, although Fox has been approaching things cautiously because of her three sons with Green.
“[Fox and Kelly] are making plans for the future and want to live together,” the source said. “Megan has been taking things slowly though to make sure her sons are doing okay. They are getting to know him now [after Megan waited a few months to introduce them to Kelly]. Megan’s sons are her number one priority.”
E! also spoke to a source on November 30 who echoed People’s reporting. Fox filed now because “they needed to hash out custody and figure everything out. It’s been in the works and this was always her plan,” the source said. “As soon as they wrapped it up and the papers were in order, she filed. They will continue with 50/50 and have a plan for holidays.”
Fox “has moved on [with Kelly] and is looking forward to her future,” E!’s source added.

Fox and Green share three children together: Noah, 8; Bodhi, 6; and Journey, 4. This is not the first time Fox has filed for divorce from Green, by the way; she initially did in August 2015 but the pair later reconciled.
In May, Green confirmed the couple had privately separated again in November 2019. “Since the end of the year, we’ve really been trying to be apart and figure out what life is now. It’s a big change for both of us,” Green told People at the time.
Green has said cheating wasn’t a factor in their split. When Fox returned from shooting Midnight in the Switchgrass with Kelly last year, Green recounted, “She said, ‘I realized when I was out of the country working alone that I feel more like myself and I liked myself better during that experience and I think that might be something worth trying for me.’ I was shocked and I was upset about it but I can’t be upset at her because she didn’t ask to feel that way. It wasn’t a choice she made, that’s the way she honestly felt. We talked about it a little more and said let’s separate for a bit…and so we did.”

E! reported in November that Fox and Green haven’t had a completely amicable relationship post-separation. After Fox called Green out for trying to feed “the pervasive narrative that I’m an absent mother, and you are the perennial, eternally dedicated dad of the year” by sharing photos of their sons on his Instagram, E! was told Green is “bitter” about the end of their marriage.
He is “constantly trying to get under her skin to get some sort of attention or reaction,” a source said.
As of August, Green hadn’t fully given up on him and Fox reconciling. During an Instagram Live, he said there was a chance they could get back together someday: “I never say never,” he said. “You never know. I kinda feel like people are on paths in life and sometimes your paths are together and you travel that path together and you see eye to eye and then sometimes paths do different things. And, you know, we had an amazing 15-year relationship.”
