He and Mendes were first spotted together in February.
Mendes went Instagram official with Vaughan almost seven months after their first public sighting. They were spotted together in February during Milan Fashion Week in Italy. In May, photographers captured a few masked-up outings from the pair.
This is Mendes’ first public relationship since calling it quits with Melton back in October 2019. When news of the split broke in December, source told E! there was no drama between the exes and co-workers. “They both have movie projects separately, and it’s been a lot on both their plates,” the source said. “Nothing in particular happened, they just both felt busy and overwhelmed and it was a lot of pressure on them.”

Mendes’ “long distance” caption is due to the fact that filming on season 5 of Riverdale is resuming in Vancouver. Lili Reinhart confirmed the news in a recent interview with Nylon, revealing that quarantine will keep the cast separated from loved ones for months. “I genuinely feel like a prisoner, going back to work, because I cannot leave Canada,” she told the outlet. “That doesn’t feel good. You can’t go home for Thanksgiving, can’t visit your family. No one can come visit you unless they quarantine for two weeks. It just feels f*cked.” (Reinhart later tweeted that her words were taken out of context.)
