Valerie Perrine, celebrated for her performances in Superman and Superman II, passed away after contending with Parkinson’s disease on March 23, 2026. She was 82 years old. Stacey Souther, the director of a documentary short about Valerie, revealed the sad tidings of the Texas-born actress’s demise in an Instagram announcement.

“It is with profound sorrow that I convey the devastating news that Valerie has departed,” Stacey expressed in her post. “She confronted Parkinson’s disease with astounding fortitude and empathy, without a single complaint. She was a true inspiration who embraced life to its fullest — and what a remarkable life it truly was. The world feels diminished without her presence. I adore you, Valerie. I anticipate seeing you in the afterlife.”

Stacey also urged her followers to contribute to her GoFundMe initiative to aid with the expenses of the funeral.

“[Valerie’s] ultimate desire is to be interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery, but following more than 15 years of battling Parkinson’s, her funds are depleted,” Stacey shared on social media. “Let’s unite to fulfill her final wish—she genuinely merits it.”

Valerie Perrine Was Employed as a Showgirl at a Las Vegas Casino Prior to Venturing into Acting

Valerie began her career as a showgirl in “Lido de Paris” at the Stardust Resort and Casino in Las Vegas during the late 1960s. She subsequently relocated to Los Angeles, California, where an agent discovered her for Slaughterhouse-Five. Consequently, Valerie secured numerous roles in subsequent years, notably in Lenny, Mr. Billion, The Electric Horsemen, Superman, and Superman II.

In the latter part of the 1960s, Valerie was romantically involved with Jay Sebring, a distinguished hairstylist for celebrities who had connections to Sharon Tate. In 1969, Jay extended an invitation to Valerie for a dinner gathering at Sharon’s residence in Benedict Canyon on the same night as the Tate-LaBianca murders, perpetrated by the Manson Family. Valerie was unable to attend due to work commitments, and six of the dinner attendees, including Sharon and Jay, were killed.
