Next to a headshot of Catherine, Melanie’s description proceeded, “I’m sure every actor she encountered expressed analogous sentiments. She did not behave as though she’d perceived it a million times; she listened and received it with refinement and with immense benevolence. Thanks to @jasonreitman for inviting me to participate in the Film Independent LACMA reading where I had the opportunity to collaborate with my idol and observe her genius firsthand. It was amazing to observe her work and be in her existence. I’ll never forget a moment of it. That day, and again on an overlapping shoot day on Away We Go, I saw her be nothing short of magnificent to every single person she encountered, from the director to the PAs. When people suggest someone ‘lit up a room,’ this is what they signify.”
“She was vibrant; it was somewhat ethereal. Her aptitude was unparalleled,” Melanie ended. “There’s been no one like her previously, and there won’t be again. What a genius. What a gorgeous person. My heart is with her family and dear friends who adored her.”
Michael Buble
Michael distributed a picture of Catherine to his Instagram. He expressed in his caption, “Heartbroken barely begins to encompass it. Catherine O’Hara was one of a kind. A unique light in this universe and her passing hits with a heaviness I can’t completely express in words.”

“She wasn’t just a renowned artist, actor, and comedian,” Michael persisted. “She was an ambassador for Canada in the truest meaning: brilliant, fearless, deeply original, and so full of humanity. She made the globe chuckle, but she also made people experience being seen. As an artist, she motivated me more than she’ll ever understand. She established the standard for what it entails to represent your country with excellence and refinement and all without ever relinquishing warmth or humility.”
Michael concluded his caption with, “My heart is shattered for her family, her loved ones, and everyone who revered her, both here in Canada and across the globe. If you’re lamenting this loss, you’re not isolated. We’re all holding a piece of this sadness together. Rest peacefully, Catherine. Thank you for everything.”

“Truly don’t know what to articulate… ” Seth commenced his Instagram dedication. “I conveyed to O’Hara when I first encountered her; I believed she was the most hilarious individual I’d ever had the delight of viewing on screen. Home Alone was the movie that inspired me to create movies. Getting to collaborate with her was a genuine honor. She was riotous, kind, perceptive, generous… she motivated me to strive to make our show worthwhile of her presence in it. This is merely devastating. We’re all fortunate we got to reside in a universe with her in it.”

Bryan collaborated with Catherine on a number of projects, most recently The Studio. He expressed in his Instagram homage, “I am utterly crushed today upon hearing of this wonderful woman’s demise. Catherine O’Hara was a brilliant comic actor, and a gorgeous human being. I adored her. We collaborated as husband and wife I guess three or four times… I’ve mislaid count. And then again, just last year as opponents on The Studio.”
“Collaborating with Catherine was akin to playing tennis with Venus Williams,” Bryan proceeded. “She never allowed you to sense it – but you merely tried to volley the ball back to her, hoping that you can approach her degree of talent. She was dazzling, and joyous. I reflect on all the years where I laughed so frequently at what she did on screen… I have to. I need to, because now all I can accomplish is cry. I’ll miss you. Make ‘em laugh in paradise.”
