Is Nicki Minaj an Immigrant?
Indeed, Minaj’s place of birth is Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. She spent her early years in Sant James under the care of her grandmother, while her mother, Carol, secured her green card and relocated to The Bronx, New York. Subsequently, Minaj reunited with her mother in New York, settling within South Jamaica, Queens.
In 2018, she previously urged Trump to take action on the border situation when children with immigrant backgrounds were being taken away from their parents.

During a TikTok Livestream in 2024, Minaj stated she lacked documentation. “I do not possess American citizenship. Isn’t that wild?” she mentioned during the broadcast. The “Starships” singer also stated that she felt she merited “honorary citizenship” due to the fact that she paid “millions of dollars” in tax obligations.
“My birthplace is a gorgeous island known as Trinidad and Tobago. However, I’ve resided in the States for quite some time,” Minaj shared. “One would assume that considering the millions in tax payments I’ve made to this nation, I would have been granted an honorary citizenship a great many, many, many years ago.”

Minaj has evolved into an outspoken advocate for Trump and Vice President JD Vance. During a speech at the Turning Point USA “AmericaFest” gathering in December 2025, Minaj enthusiastically remarked that the Trump leadership possessed “heart and soul.”

Previously, however, Minaj wasn’t prominently known as a Trump supporter. During a 2015 interview alongside Billboard, Minaj voiced disapproval for the president’s manner of speaking, describing it as “childish,” yet she nonetheless regarded him as “amusing” from an “entertainment” perspective.
“There are points he has articulated that might not have been quite so dreadful had his delivery not been so immature. However, from an entertainment standpoint — I find him comical,” she expressed at the time. “I am hopeful they might film him running for office. That is the supreme reality television program.”
