“He lived a life as rich as any person could live. Joy, overflowing spirit, contagious laughter. A giant of a red-haired man,” she went on. “We are incredibly thankful for everyone who stood by us over the last few years. Mick cherished this quote from Brendan Behan, and it seems fitting now: ‘The most important things to do in the world are to get something to eat, something to drink and somebody to love you.’ So, don’t overthink things. Eat. Drink. Love.”
In December 2025, the couple launched a GoFundMe to assist with the expenses of Michael’s tracheostomy. The fundraiser gathered $100,000.
What Is Meant By Motor Neurone Disease?
According to the Cleveland Clinic, motor neurone disease (MND) represents a collection of neurological disorders that progressively destroy an individual’s motor neurons. Motor neurons are nerve cells responsible for regulating muscle movements that are essential for everyday actions, like walking, speaking, and swallowing.
Typically, signals originating from neurons in the brain are referred to as upper motor neurons, which are then passed to neurons located in the spinal cord, also recognized as lower motor neurons.
Muscle rigidity tends to manifest when a patient’s muscles are unable to receive these signals from the lower motor neurons.
Is a Cure Available for Motor Neurone Disease?
No. There isn’t a cure for MND.
