Maya Rudolph and Paul Thomas Anderson have enjoyed a flourishing love affair since 2001, and it remains strong. While the actress has been front and center, recognized for her flourishing career through the years, her partner possesses an impressive resume of his own. The couple has been seen at many gatherings together and have been open when discussing their affection in different interviews, despite mainly keeping their private lives out of the public eye; this makes it obvious that these two have a unique connection.
Paul is well-known for his films *Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood,* and *One Battle After Another,* for which he received the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay. He also gained nominations for Best Director in 2018 (*Phantom Thread*) and in 2022 (*Licorice Pizza*). He also collaborated with the band Haim, directing the visuals for their songs “Summer Girl,” “Now I’m In It,” “Hallelujah,” “The Steps,” “Man from the Magazine,” and “Lost Track.”

How did Maya and Paul get together?
Maya and Paul have never openly stated how they connected, but sparks commenced in 2001 after Paul’s separation from singer Fiona Apple. Maya confessed that she wasn’t eager to share how they initially met with everyone because she desired to keep it private. “No, it’s a lovely thing … Very intimate. I don’t want to share it,” she stated to The Guardian in 2015.

Paul was designated as one of the greatest movie makers globally by The Guardian and has overseen various favored films and even music videos during his extensive career. Some of the movies he’s contributed to include *Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood,* and *Licorice Pizza*. His music videos were created for numerous iconic musicians, including his former partner Fiona, Radiohead, and HAIM.
Paul has been nominated for an astonishing eleven Academy Awards through the years, but as of 2022, he has not received one. Those involved in his films have attained some, though, showing he understands how to choose the right talented cast and crew to create a memorable work.

Despite the fact that the pair has never formally said their vows, Maya still alludes to Paul as her “husband,” and Paul mentions her as his “wife.” In a discussion with The New York Times, Maya explained further why she has been utilizing the term “husband” in place of “boyfriend” since she suddenly announced it to an individual at a dining establishment after the birth of their initial child in 2005. “He likes ‘husband’ because people know what that means,” she expressed, in reference to Paul. “It means he’s the father of my child, and I live with him, and we are a couple, and we’re not going anywhere.”
Do the couple have children?
Maya and Paul are parents to four children. They include daughters Pearl, born in 2005, Lucille, born in 2009, Minnie, born in 2013, and son Jack, born in 2011. Pearl made an appearance in Paul’s film *Licorice Pizza* and the HAIM music video for their song “Lost Track.” In 2017, Maya raved about being a mother. “I find being a parent endlessly fascinating and challenging in the most wonderful way, and every day is different than the next,” she revealed to Parade. “It just requires a lot of thinking and not being so hard on yourself and trying to be the best possible version of yourself, which is really hard to remember. It’s a good exercise.”
Paul’s 2017 film, ‘Phantom Thread,’ had some inspiration from their relationship.
Paul validated that the film, which centers around “a distinguished fashion designer whose life sees change with a young, headstrong woman named Alma, who becomes his inspiration and partner, was partly influenced by his romance with Maya. “I remember that I was very ill, just with the flu, and I glanced up, and my wife looked at me with tenderness that made me think, ‘I wonder if she wants to keep me this way, maybe for a week or two,’” he confided in Collider in 2018. “I was watching the wrong movies when I was in bed, during this illness. I was watching *Rebecca, The Story of Adele H.,* and *Beauty and the Beast,* and I really started to think that maybe she was poisoning me. So that kernel of an idea, I had in my mind when I started working on writing something.”
