Lil Jon (born Jonathan H. Smith) is celebrated for some of the biggest musical successes of the 2010s, notably the club favorite “Turn Down for What,” to begin. Yet, exceeding his professional life, Lil Jon’s role is primarily that of a parent. The artist is a father to a duo of offspring: his departed son, Nathan, also recognized as DJ Young Slade, alongside his daughter, Nahara.
Jon became a father to his two children almost two decades apart, with his son following a similar path as a musical talent.
Regrettably, in early 2026, Jon’s offspring, Nathan, gained media coverage when reports emerged that he was missing from the Milton, Georgia, locale. Authorities stated he departed from his residence on foot and lacked a mobile device. The search for Young Slade started subsequent to his last sighting on February 3 of that year. Several days later, law enforcement declared they believed they had located Nathan’s remains and that he was deceased.

As mentioned earlier, Lil Jon has two children. He has a son, Nathan, with his former spouse, Nicole Smith, and his daughter, Nahara, with his partner, Jamila Sozahdah.

Lil Jon welcomed Nathan in 1998 with Nicole, his former wife. Progressing into DJ Young Slade, Nathan ventured into the music world akin to his father.
During a 2017 dialogue with Paste magazine, Lil Jon expressed enthusiasm regarding his son’s development as a performer.
“I recall changing his diapers; he couldn’t articulate, or ambulate, scooting around and entering the back when I’m creating music and tapping on the drum pads; and now he’s producing his individual music within the Clive Davis program at NYU,” Jon expressed then. “He possesses profound engineering abilities, and his productions sound superb. Therefore, with him and these young individuals, it’s remarkable to observe these concepts and observe individuals evolve.”
Nathan communicated with The Quintessential Gentleman in March 2025 regarding his bond with his father and his aspiration to perpetuate his heritage.
“It’s cool to value my dad, demonstrate respect, and simply observe all his accomplishments; it’s pleasant to have the baton passed and undertake my individual endeavors,” he articulated. “Because it originates from him, while I’m definitively embracing it and rendering it my own.”
Nathan was discovered deceased at age 27 in February 2026, after being reported as missing.

Since Nahara is still a young child, not much is known regarding Lil Jon’s youngest, aside from her being a primary source of joy in his existence. Jon welcomed her in 2024. He and Jamila, his girlfriend, commemorated Nahara’s initial birthday in November 2025 via an Instagram image showcasing the trio in coordinated purple garments.
“This Thanksgiving, our spirits are enriched—as is the affection,” Jon inscribed in his post. “Joyful 1 year of life to our daughter, Nahara. An eternity of favor lies ahead.”
