Prince Andrew is no longer holding his prince status. The official word came from Buckingham Palace, revealing his royal title was rescinded on October 31, 2025, sparking questions among those unaware of the accusations involving Jeffrey Epstein: What actions led to Andrew losing his royal designation?
“Prince Andrew will now go by the name Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” stated Buckingham Palace in a press release issued that day, according to CNN. “His current agreement for Royal Lodge has thus far afforded him legal recourse to remain in the residence. Official communication has been sent to relinquish the agreement, and he will relocate to alternate, private living arrangements.”
The palace – domicile of King Charles III and Queen Camilla — further noted, “Such measures are considered requisite, even as he persists in refuting the charges leveled against him.”

What Caused Prince Andrew to Lose His Title?
Buckingham Palace only mentioned in its declaration that Andrew’s title was withdrawn due to being “deemed necessary,” noting that he “continues to refute the allegations against him.”
The probable rationale underpinning the palace’s choice is linked to the claims of sexual assault brought against Andrew by the deceased Virginia Giuffre and his association with the late sex offender Epstein.
What Were Prince Andrew’s Actions?
Giuffre accused the now-former Prince Andrew of sexual misconduct, alleging that she was trafficked to him by Epstein when she was 17. Giuffre additionally stated that Epstein and his colleague, Ghislaine Maxwell, compelled her into sexual encounters with Andrew on several occasions from 2001 to 2002.
Andrew has refuted all of Giuffre’s assertions and maintained he had never encountered Giuffre, despite a rediscovered photograph showing them together. Giuffre died of suicide on April 25, 2025.
Andrew also asserted he was unaware of Epstein’s sex trafficking scheme, yet admitted to lodging at Epstein’s dwellings and sustaining contact with him, even after his 2008 conviction for child solicitation.
In 2021, Giuffre initiated a civil suit, charging him with sexual battery and causing emotional suffering. The matter was resolved privately in 2022, ending all legal actions between the involved parties. Regardless, the charges against Andrew and his link to Epstein resulted in his progressive departure from royal responsibilities and appearances in public.
Following Buckingham Palace’s decision to remove Andrew from his royal post, Giuffre’s family issued a statement, articulating, “Today, an average American woman, hailing from an ordinary American household, toppled a British prince with her sincerity and unmatched valor.”
Is Prince Andrew Currently Married?
No, Andrew is no longer in matrimony with his former spouse, Sarah Ferguson. They exchanged vows in 1986 and dissolved their marriage a decade later.
Does Prince Andrew Have Any Offspring?
Yes, Andrew has two daughters, both of whom he fathered with his previous wife: Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
