Each of us has that same dark corner in our closet where things for special occasions have been hanging for years. A silk dress that it would be a shame to accidentally spill coffee on, a luxurious light coat waiting for perfect dry weather, and the same perfume that is only allowed to be worn on big holidays, informs Ukr.Media.
Watching where this world is heading, I find myself thinking more and more: if we don't get it all now, then when?
Waiting for better times is the worst habit we have inherited from past generations. This tradition of keeping the best crystal in a sideboard until it is covered with the dust of the ages.
We do exactly the same with our wardrobe. But the truth is that the best day is this particular Tuesday. The day when you simply survived, found the strength to drink your morning coffee and go out in public. Walking around in a festive skirt or an expensive perfume is a banal gratitude for the fact that we are here at all. Who knows how things will turn out there tomorrow.
When the surrounding reality finally flies off the reels, a silk dress or favorite jewelry saves better than a sedative. You can be tired, sleepless and completely confused, but when you put on something beautiful, the outside begins to hold the inside. Someone else's toxicity, envy or just minor everyday troubles somehow imperceptibly bounce back. People see this, in front of them is a person who has everything under control. Even if this control is held solely on hairpins and willpower.
I look at how we adapt to unpredictability, and I understand that saving on ourselves now is simply a mockery of our own psyche. Of course, I don't mean to spend the last on bags. But the best that we can realistically afford should work today.
Ultimately, it's a question of how we program our own reality. When we endure something drawn out and impersonal, marinating the good for an incomprehensible later, we seem to consciously agree to poverty. We signal to ourselves and to space that we are preparing for the worst.
But when we wear new things just to go to the office or to a meeting, we declare: I know that there will be other cool things later, there will be other clothes and money for all this.
So stop playing Plyushkin with your life. Shake out your closets. Bring out everything that's languishing in its covers and boxes. Wear your best, because the only guaranteed moment for that luxury is now.

First the new ones ↕ Bearded Pike 🤔 I have my own opinion 03/24/2026 13:27 I don't know how anyone manages to “live to the fullest” – maybe they live in some parallel reality? My life has been “on pause” for the fifth year. Here I would have to keep the cuckoo from uncontrolled flight … and you say “live to the fullest” + Reply
