I was browsing the forum today and came across a drama, someone asked quite seriously: “What would you think of a 38-year-old woman without a single ring on her finger? What, does she have no money? Or is there a reason?”, informs Ukr.Media.
It would seem that the year is 2026. We have somehow learned to live with neural networks, survived a bunch of crises, and got used to permanent stress, but for some, the measure of financial success is still a piece of metal on their ring finger.
In the comments under this question, a little hell and spontaneous sisterhood broke out at the same time.
Hundreds of commentators happily exclaimed: “Oh, so it's me!” The lion's share of these women with “bare” hands park cars for a hundred thousand dollars and pay for purchases with a phone that costs more than all the Soviet gold that is still stored in someone's sideboard. They simply grew out of the need to carry their entire financial report on themselves. Someone in the thread very aptly mentioned the girls from the zero years who came to universities hung with thick chains – because otherwise no one on the minibus would guess that you are not poor.
And then, behind these reflections on status, the harsh prose of life begins, which exudes normality.
Why don't women actually wear rings? Because we are living people. We swell up in the morning, and by lunchtime these decorations dig into the skin as if they are trying to cut off a finger. We apply cream to our hands ten times a day, and then picking out the remains from under the diamonds is a dubious pleasure. One commentator even wrote a brilliant thing: on her fingers, the rings look “like a gold tooth in her mouth.”
Even the wedding ring for many has long ceased to be an inviolable marker of ownership. It is removed because it interferes with working with hands, because it is too tight, or simply because it was put on a shelf in the bathroom five years ago and forgotten. And nothing, the sky has not fallen to earth. Many women have heavy boxes with luxury jewelry lying around at home, just lying there waiting for some ephemeral mood. And for some reason this mood comes once every three years.
What made me laugh the most was the dialogue about how society would be better interested in those who don't have brains, not rings. Of course, there were immediately those who wanted to give a stuffy anatomy lecture about how it's impossible to live without a brain because it controls breathing. But we all understand what was being said.
Modern luxury is no longer the number of carats per square centimeter of the body. It is the privilege of not thinking at all about what cartoons a stranger draws in his head when looking at your hands. It is the freedom not to try to impress. And if someone still thinks that clean fingers without jewelry are a sign of poverty, then, most likely, this person simply has a very poor imagination. Or he simply has nothing to do.

Chunky Killer Whale 💅 Depends on the manicure 03/14/2026 10:52 A beautiful manicure decorates women's hands much better and brighter than any jewelry. But if the hands of that manicure have not seen anyone for a long time, then no gold will save their sloppy appearance + Reply
