Things I shamelessly save on (and I won't forbid you to)

Especially from the mouth of another stylist in the tape. Like, better one luxurious cashmere coat than five jackets on sale, or one good leather boots instead of a mountain of shoes that will fall apart under the first Kyiv snow. I would be happy to nod thoughtfully, because it is partly true. But life after thirty-five makes its own adjustments, and my common sense has long won over the desire to look like an investment portfolio. Some things are simply designed to be inexpensive, and I am absolutely not ashamed to carry them to the checkout of a mass market, informs Ukr.Media.

White T-shirts

For years, we have been convinced that this is the holy grail of the wardrobe. Under a jacket, with your favorite jeans, with a complex colorful skirt – it goes with everything. It would seem that the logic is ironclad: we wear the thing often, so we need to spend money on the trip so that it serves us for a long time. But no. A white T-shirt is a consumable item. You can also add white socks to this. You can dance with a tambourine around the washing machine, order secret Japanese bleaches, but toner, deodorant, an accidental drop of coffee or just city dust will do their job. Yellow throat will come for each of them. I would rather spend an evening on a glass of wine than trying to reanimate a piece of cotton. Therefore, my choice is to buy them in packs inexpensively and throw them away without the slightest remorse.

Trendy things

Sometimes you look at Instagram and think: I urgently need a translucent skirt, I'll look so mysterious in it with sneakers and an oversized jacket. You buy it. And then reality sets in: in the morning you overslept, during the day you run between meetings, in the evening you just want to get into your sweatpants. In the end, I wore my transparent skirt exactly twice. Imagine if I paid half my salary for it. And even worse, when you buy some crazy trend, you wait for the right opportunity, and a year later it already makes you laugh. Spending a thousand hryvnias on such a whim is interesting. Spending twenty is already an excuse for a serious conversation with yourself.

Eye-popping colors

Our brains are clever: we automatically read complex, muted shades as something expensive. But neon lime or fuchsia – not. You can buy a luxurious acid dress for crazy money, but to people it will still look like a bright find from the nearest shopping mall. The cost of this thing will warm only your own soul.

Hoodies and sweatshirts

I love them for their convenience, especially when you don't have the time to think about what to wear. But honestly, no matter how much this piece of fleece costs, it's perceived as just plain sportswear. We don't have to look like we're competing for the richest woman in the neighborhood 24/7. Three hundred dollar skinny jeans? Thanks, I'll take the regular ones, and I'll go get a back massage with the rest.

And finally, jeans.

I know, right now I'm going to get tomatoes from fans of proper denim. Some fashion guru once said that jeans should only be expensive and branded. Well, well. The peculiarity is that regular Zara fits my figure perfectly, but in the vaunted Levi's I look like I borrowed pants from my older brother. What's the point of suffering for my own big money if I'm uncomfortable in expensive pants? Of course, I'm not talking about the terrible substitutes that are 90% elastane and look more like leggings from the market. Real, normal, tight denim can now be found anywhere. You just have to go to the fitting room and look in the mirror, not at the zero on the price tag.

Do you also consider a white T-shirt just a waste of money, or are you willing to pay for the “status” and brand?
