Why a heavy bag can harm hair health and how to prevent this with one of the main accessories of the season – a scarf.
Fashion trend of spring 2026 against brittle hair and split ends
Berta Martin Sanz (co-founder of hair care brand Moncho Moreno) spoke about a habit that can damage hair. “The ends of the hair often get caught in the handle of the bag. It is worth releasing it so that it does not catch and break. In the salon, it is easy to determine which shoulder the client is carrying the bag on, precisely by the degree of damage to the hair on one side,” she explained.

This observation explains why stylist Moncho Moreno's advice is so relevant. And it's directly related to one of the key accessories of spring 2026: the scarf tied around the shoulders. “It's important to make sure that metal parts or sharp edges of handles do not come into contact with the hair, and to avoid heavy bags that create tension and can cause breakage. To do this, you can protect your hair with a scarf. It will prevent friction on the handle and reduce the risk of damage,” advises the stylist.

Other ways to reduce hair friction and breakage
In addition to a scarf draped over the shoulders, one that also covers the hair to minimize friction, the expert offers other solutions:
- It will be more convenient to put your hair on the opposite side of the bag, braid it, or tie it up in a ponytail.
- Hiding hair under a coat or sweater (let's remember a famous method that became popular in street fashion: hair tucked inside clothes; it was actively popularized by the Olsen sisters and Phoebe Fileau back in 2010, and later it became one of the recognizable gestures of her shows for Céline).
- Use the dry version of the ACA method: if in wet care it involves applying conditioner before washing to protect the hair shaft, then in the dry format it can be adapted and a few drops of light oil can be applied to the ends to create a protective film that will reduce friction and breakage.
