The main trend of 2026 is the “blurred” lip effect. However, Gigi Hadid reminds us that a clearly defined “Cupid's bow” is as timeless as it is glamorous.
Despite the popularity of “blurred” lips among celebrities from Sarah Pidgeon to Mia Goth, Charli XCX and Sadie Sink (often done by makeup artist Nina Park), Gigi Hadid has opted for a defined lip line that has an undeniably current look. With the return of '90s matte makeup, it makes perfect sense.

The model appeared at the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony 2026 in a tight, crystal-white David Koma gown, accessorized with Anayam London jewelry. The halter dress, fastened with a silver brooch, and a sculptural corset that flowed into a fitted skirt, emphasized the classic aesthetic. The beauty team was responsible for the look: makeup artist Patrick Ta and stylist Dimitris Giannetos.
How to make a “Cupid's Bow”
“For the lips, I always choose a shade that harmonizes with the blush, so that the makeup is complete,” says Ta. “This time it was a tone 4-5 shades darker than the natural color of the lips. I start with a pencil that matches the natural undertone, and then adjust the saturation depending on the desired effect.” The final result refers to the aesthetics of Hollywood icons like Marlene Dietrich – a vintage lip silhouette in a modern nude interpretation. The rest of the makeup is also designed in the brand's style: radiant skin, warm blush, soft bronzer and expressive eyes with a graphic arrow and voluminous eyelashes.

As for the hairstyle, Dimitris Giannetos shared the secrets to creating “big, bouncy, almost angelic” curls in a vintage style. “I rolled the hair into small curlers and fixed them until completely cool. Then I carefully combed it with a wide brush and slightly combed it for a more pronounced retro effect.” The hair was divided into a straight parting, the side strands were pinned, and a few curls were left near the face.
