Rihanna's new look is straight from the Dior Couture runway

Rihanna was the first to take Jonathan Anderson's couture looks for Dior beyond the runway—almost literally.

The singer and entrepreneur attended Anderson's debut couture show for Dior in Paris. For the event, she chose a sheer black polka dot dress and a double-breasted coat — a look that echoed one of her most iconic maternity looks. And at the after-party, Rihanna showed up wearing an item she'd just seen on the runway.

However, it wasn’t one of Anderson’s sculptural dresses or a braided cape. Instead, Rihanna turned to the show’s beauty code, adorning her hair with bunches of white and fuchsia cyclamen. These are the flowers, in shades of white, pink and purple, that the models wore at the show. The gesture was a subtle and touching homage to one of Anderson’s predecessors, John Galliano.

As Anderson himself recounted on Instagram, when he first showed Galliano his debut women's collection, he arrived with two bouquets of cyclamen tied with black silk ribbons, as well as a bag of cakes and sweets from Tesco for the team. “They were the most beautiful flowers I'd ever seen, so I decided to make them the starting point – so that everyone would get the same bouquet as me,” Anderson wrote.

And of course, Rihanna made this couture gesture as modern as possible. She “grounded” high glamour by pairing the flowers with a white T-shirt, rolled-up blue jeans and a fluffy white scarf. The look was completed with pink satin pointy-toe ballet flats, multi-layered necklaces and sunglasses. And from under the scarf, another bouquet of cyclamen peeked out, tied directly to the belt loop of her jeans.
