Michael Friede, who previously served as CEO of Brenntag Specialties, has been appointed to the Executive Board of Symrise. He will take over as President of the Scent & Care segment, which was ad-interim headed by CEO Dr. Jean-Yves Parisot.
Michael Friede, who has led Brenntag Specialties since 2023, has held various management positions at Akzo Nobel in the Netherlands, and Covestro, in Germany and France. He began his professional career at Bayer AG in Leverkusen, Germany, and Pittsburgh, USA. In addition, he is a Supervisory Board member of Pearl Polyurethane Systems, a leading producer of polyurethane systems, headquartered in Dubai.
Born in 1980, Michael Friede studied in Madrid, Toronto, Essen, Oxford and London and holds both, a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He is married and has three children.
Symrise’s Scente & Care business focuses on fragrance applications, aromatic molecules and cosmetic ingredients. It contributes around 2 billion euros to the group’s annual turnover.
