The fragrance house recently unveiled a technology aimed at empowering its perfumers to create scents that evoke sensuality. This fragrance design aid complements the company’s existing range of neuroscience-powered development technologies, including MoodScentz+, VivaScentz and DreamScentz.
Givaudan completes its portfolio of technologies aimed at functionalizing fragrance creations. After DreamScentz, dedicated to the creation of fragrances that helps to improve sleep quality; VivaScentz, for creating fragrances that boost wellbeing; and MoodScentz+, which supports perfumers and oral care flavourists in creating compositions that positively enhance emotions, the Switzerland-headquartered company is unveiling a new fragrance design tool dubbed ChériScentz.
Aligning with Givaudan’s commitment to enhance emotional connections through perfume, ChériScentz supports perfumers in the creation of scents that evoke sensuality among consumers.
A highly search feature in various categories
“Sensuality is defined as the capacity to experience pleasure and connections through the senses,” Givaudan explains.
Thus, ChériScentz helps to highlight odours that can evoke feelings of attraction, intimacy, and shared experiences, one of the key reasons to buy a fragrance, the company says.
According to the fragrance maker, 95% of Brazilian women connect with sensuality when using a perfume, and 72% of French and American consumers state that someone’s fragrance can make them want to touch or kiss them [1]. “The importance of scent in fostering emotional bonds is clear,” emphasizes the company.
By enabling perfumers to create scents that are not only appealing but also resonate with the multifaceted nature of modern sensuality, ChériScentz addresses the demand for fragrances that reflect authenticity, inclusivity, and emotional connections. Beyond fine fragrances this expands to fragrance offerings for other product categories such as bath, body, laundry, and home.
“Givaudan’s Health and Wellbeing Centre of Excellence has played a crucial role in developing this patent-pending algorithm. This innovative tool, which was conceived in Brazil, harnesses advanced research derived from global consumer studies and is evaluated using G-Evocations, a specialised method that assesses fragrance sensuality through visual stimuli. This approach guarantees high discrimination, quality results, and consumer relevance across diverse markets,” said Jeremy Compton, Global Head of Science and Technology Fragrances at Givaudan.
