Foggy French – a manicure you definitely want to try

Milk manicure has gone out of fashion; instead, Foggy French is gaining popularity – a “foggy French manicure” that suits everyone.

Milky nails in all their variations have been all over the news in 2025. But now a new favorite is entering the scene – the Foggy French manicure, the noble successor to the cloud micro-french. It is he who claims the title of the next manicure classic and has already received the approval of fashionistas led by Zoe Kravitz.

Celebrity manicurist Bettina Goldstein created this look for Zoe Kravitz at the 2026 Golden Globes. On her Instagram, she described the manicure as “soft natural nails with a slight accent” — perfect, glossy, but with character. Let's be honest: it's hard to imagine a classic “French” with a bright white tip on the tattooed fingers of rebel Zoe Kravitz.

At the same time, this particular manicure option is increasingly appearing everywhere. It is chosen by those who are giving their nails a break from gels, but still want a minimal design so that their hands look well-groomed and neat.

So what is Foggy French?

As the name suggests, it's an interpretation of the classic French manicure. But instead of the traditional pastel pink base and contrasting white edge, the Foggy French has a translucent, hazy aesthetic.

Imagine a soft French: an almost “bare” nail and a milky white, slightly muted tip – the same shade that reminds of the morning Kyiv fog. As with milky nails, this effect works great on an elongated nail plate.

The fact that the nail tip is not perfectly white may seem like a minor detail, but that's the point: Foggy French is seen as a fashionable cousin of the classic French jacket – a little unexpected, a little daring, but still understatedly elegant.

How to replicate a Foggy French manicure

In her post, Bettina Goldstein explains in detail how she created this manicure using The Gel Bottle. After a 2-in-1 base coat, she applied a thin layer of Chiffon BIAB, followed by an equally thin layer of Milky BIAB, but only on the tips of the nails to adjust the shade. The finishing touch was a single layer of Extreme Shine Top Coat.

The good news is that this effect is easy to recreate at home. Work in semi-transparent layers: first a soft pink polish, then a creamy shade reminiscent of coconut or almond milk for a soft accent at the tip of the nail.
