Can an oily scalp be accustomed to washing less often?

Numerous articles by hair care experts also claim that this can lead to negative consequences. For example, if you, having become accustomed to washing your hair every day, switch to washing it every 2-3 days, you will generally harm yourself: dandruff will appear, hair loss will occur, and many other terrible things will happen.

But. After I started braiding Afrocurls periodically, I became less categorical. With Afrocurls, you don't wash your head every day, even if you're used to it. First, frequent washing will spoil the Kanekalon faster. Second, it's simply not necessary. Your own hair is braided in tight braids, it doesn't get dirty under the material cap. At the same time, this cap doesn't particularly touch the skin – there's an air gap between the Kanekalon and your head. In fact, only the knots touch your head.

As a result, you will only have to wash this hairstyle once every 5-7 days, and then only with foam – so that the product is washed out more easily. You will not need masks and balms – there is no point in applying them))

That's it. After I untangle this construction (after a month and a half) and let my own hair loose, I have to wash it much less often. Now it's once every 3-4 days. Before braiding, my hair looked stale the next day.

It turns out that taking a break from frequent washing and a bunch of auxiliary products (masks, balms, lotions, styling products, etc.) is good for your hair?

And it turns out that undiluted shampoo has the greatest impact on the rapid loss of freshness of hair (especially thin hair). Moreover, it is not enough to dilute the shampoo with water in the palm of your hand – you need to whip it with a sponge into foam. Only in this case will it be completely and easily washed out of the hair…

And no. I don't have any dandruff or hair loss, as the opponents of this method fear. On the contrary. My hair has become stronger.

I won't convince you of anything. It would be strange to advise those who wash their hair every day to change their schedule – suddenly they like it and it's convenient. But I'm just sharing my own experience. Still, there is some truth in the words that you can get your hair used to washing it less often…
