“Blurred” lips became a hit on the red carpet of the “Oscars-2026”

This year, the main makeup trend has become the “blurred” lip technique from star makeup artist Nina Park. She has already conquered the red carpets at all the awards season. First we saw her at the SAG Awards, and now at the “Oscars-2026” stars continued to blur the lip contour and create a delicate blurred lips effect.

Blurred Lips: the main trend of the year

Blurred Lips makeup is characterized by a blurred “Cupid's arch” (the notch above the upper lip), which softens and slightly rounds the lip contour. This softly shaded contour (the complete opposite of the sharply defined lips that were popular in previous seasons) makes the lips visually more voluminous and plump. Then the lips are filled with lipstick in any shade. On the red carpet of the 2026 Oscars, Emma Stone chose a brown-nude shade for the effect of “your natural beauty, but better” (makeup was done by Nina Park herself).

Chase Infinity also decided to go for an elegant and fresh makeup look, with the main focus being the “blurred” lips. The lip contour was softly shaded. A delicate bronze halo was also created, making the lips look voluminous and plump, but at the same time as natural as possible.

Actress Mia Goth chose a makeup look that focused on “blurred” lips for her 2026 Oscars red carpet appearance, which in a darker tone became the main accent of her look. The shade of lipstick (a warm nude with a slight brown tint) harmonized with her radiant skin and minimalist eye makeup, emphasizing modern, effortless elegance and sensuality.

At the 2026 Oscars, Gwyneth Paltrow demonstrated that the blurred lips technique is suitable not only for young girls, but also for women over 50. Her lips were softly shaded to create the effect of natural volume and a delicate glow that adds freshness and softens facial features. The light nude shade emphasized that “blurred” lips are a modern and universal look for any age.

How to make “blurred” lips

“It's very natural and effortless,” makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes told Vogue earlier this year. It's also easy to replicate. Start with a small amount of cream bronzer and blend it in carefully with a brush. Then, line your lips with it to create a soft bronze halo.

But the smudged lip technique also works for bold looks: Jessie Buckley showed it off at both the Oscars and the SAG Awards, opting for a rich red shade. Other fans of the trend include Chase Infinity and Sui Wanders, Sarah Pidgeon, Mia Gott, and Audrey Noona.
