Andre Tan has laid out his list of anti-trends for spring-summer 2026. We say goodbye to what was the basis of every second style reel just yesterday, and look where the industry is headed (spoiler: we will be as concise as possible, whether we like it or not).
Ballet flats are going out of fashion
The era of balletcore, when ribbons, hypertrophied tenderness and ballet shoes literally took over the entire space, is over. And now the image of “I am a doll girl and I go to rehearsal” is better forgotten. Andre Tan says that ballet shoes are no longer exported.
What instead? Mules. And it's a real relief. They look like you didn't bother with the look at all – you just threw something on and went for coffee, but at the same time the visual is pulled to a completely different level of elegance. And a plus – it's banally convenient for life in the city.
Oval sunglasses are losing popularity
If anyone can be blamed for the mass obsession with oval glasses, especially in leopard print, it's Miu Miu. Last year, the office siren style made everyone buy them in droves. They were literally everywhere. And that's why their time has come—too much, too fast.
It's better to switch to geometry. If you want to look current, look for strict square frames or good old classics like “cat's eye”. More clear lines, less librarian from zero.
Lace tops give way to minimalism
Asymmetrical cuts, lace, and sheer inserts were beautiful within the coquettish core, but they have saturated the market so much that we are simply tired of them. All these complex romantic tops are officially going on vacation in 2026.
Total, absolute minimalism is entering the arena. It's better to focus on smooth textures: silk tops, clean lines, basic blouses without unnecessary decorative things. The simpler and more restrained, the cooler it reads now.
What will be the fashion in spring 2026?
In short: fashion is on a visual detox. We are letting go of the crazy decor and the desire to put on everything that is brightest at once. The course is taken towards simple styles, cool fabrics and classic silhouettes. It seems that the industry is simply tired of the fleeting hype and is offering us things that will not start to annoy everyone in three months.
