Flowers for March 8: how to choose the right festive bouquet

It is difficult to imagine Women's Day without a festive bouquet. Bright and fragrant, it reminds us that winter is over. A wonderful time of awakening of nature, inspiration and love begins, informs Ukr.Media.

What flowers are most often given on March 8? What should you choose, and what should you avoid? And how to truly surprise your beloved woman?

First, about what you shouldn't give. These are artificial or wilted plants, as well as flowers that the girl doesn't like or is allergic to. That's probably all! From the rest, even from ordinary red carnations, you can put together a unique composition. It's enough to contact a good florist or show a little of your own imagination.

Do you choose simple chrysanthemums or tulips? Pay attention to new varieties and unusual shades. Remember: there are no “bad” flowers, there is only a poorly composed bouquet. Avoid bulky plastic packaging, sparkles and other “rich” decor – it only cheapens the look.

The best flowers for the holiday are those that embody spring freshness. In the first place are the incomparable tulips, which are adored by millions of women. The variety of their varieties in stores is simply amazing. I advise you to abandon flashy, saturated colors in favor of delicate ones: white, yellow, light pink or pale purple.

If tulips seem too banal to you, take a closer look at other primroses – for example, daffodils or hyacinths. But there is an important floristic nuance here: the stems of these plants secrete a thick mucus with toxic alkaloids. If they are immediately placed in the same vase with other flowers, the mucus will clog the capillaries of the neighbors, and the bouquet will wilt in a day. Therefore, daffodils and hyacinths should be kept in separate water for 12-24 hours, without cutting again before collecting them in a common composition.

Many of us have loved the aroma of mimosa and its delicate “pompons” since childhood. Although in fact, what we are used to calling mimosa is botanically a silver acacia. And today these flowers can become a real decoration of the holiday – both in a mix with other plants and on their own.

A beautiful and very intimate bouquet for your beloved woman can be made from snowdrops or lilies of the valley. Even a small composition will say everything about your feelings.

However, be careful: most wild snowdrops and lilies of the valley are listed in the Red Book. Their collection and sale is illegal poaching. Buy only greenhouse flowers. Also, remember safety: lilies of the valley are deadly poisonous (contain cardiac glycosides). Even the water in a vase becomes toxic – if a pet or child drinks it, it can lead to severe poisoning.

Probably, no holiday in our country is complete without roses – a symbol of love and admiration for female beauty. A great alternative to a traditional bouquet of classic red roses can be ranunculus, gerberas, fritillaries, or special, for example, peony-like varieties of Ecuadorian or Kenyan roses.

When choosing fritillaries for a romantic gift, consider their specifics: they have a pungent odor (musky or even garlicky), which not everyone can tolerate indoors.

The choice of flowers today is huge, but it is important that the bouquet is harmonious in shape and color. Another popular composition is the use of herbs, green leaves, and painted gypsophila.

When choosing flowers, focus on quality, not quantity. Even if it is a small bouquet, the flowers in it will be first-class.

And the last thing you should never forget is the tastes and preferences of the girl herself! Even the simplest, but very beloved flowers can turn any day into a magical one. Give flowers to girls not only on holidays!
