I honestly thought that the Sherlock era ended somewhere with Benedict Cumberbatch's curls and jokes about a sociopath. It seemed, well, what else could be squeezed out of the guy from Baker Street, informs Ukr.Media.
On March 4, Amazon Prime released “Young Sherlock.” Eight episodes. It instantly shot into the platform's top 10, and to be honest, I was planning to watch one episode, but I came to my senses in the evening when I was Googling vintage coats.
This Sherlock is just a chaotic anarchist teenager. He's ragged, brash, steals wallets on the streets purely for the adrenaline rush (and usually returns them, because he's supposedly principled), and carries a huge baggage of childhood trauma and family drama.
And now the most interesting thing is the casting. Guy Ritchie wouldn't be himself if he didn't invite his favorites. The main role was given to Guy Fiennes-Tiffin. This is the guy from the “After” franchise, who recently ran with Ritchie in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Affairs.” And you know what? He really suits this image.
His main enemy, James Moriarty, is played by Domhnall Finn from The Witcher. And in the background there is something incredible: Colin Firth, Zin Tseng from The Three Body Problem, Natasha McElhone, and Max Irons.
The series itself is pure, concentrated Guy Ritchie. If you like his aesthetic of dirty English streets, perfect suits, slow-mo fights, and very serious guys who don't skimp on black humor, this is the place for you. Only now they're unraveling some giant international conspiracy, and this is Holmes' first serious case.
The rating on Rotten Tomatoes is already at 83%. Viewers are going wild with delight in the comments, writing things like “I didn’t expect it to drag on like this” and are already demanding a second season. Someone even called it the perfect family series (although, in my opinion, there are too many broken faces for a “family” series).

What do you think of this upgrade: will this cheeky guy surpass Cumberbatch or has Guy Ritchie strayed too far from the canon?
