“Our film is about music and love before music. And also about how the little world of the boys from Lvov turned into a legend that became part of the history of Ukraine. The idea of creating a documentary film about the “Ocean of Elzy” “We thought about it, we thought about it – and our ideas came together at the right moment,” says the screenwriter of the film, Vadim Pereverzev.
The biggest incentive for the page’s authors is to select content – to include 30 history stories for the team in every two years of screen time. And the most complex stage became installation, and not removal, so the team looked at the archives for the results of the group, the skin participant and the other people nearby. The first version of the film was assembled and lasted five years. The director of the film, Artem Grigoryan, said that “Ocean of Elzy: Warning the Storm” became a revelation for new people and revealed the whole story to the crowd. “For me, what really stood out to me during the hour of working on this film was the song “Without Between”. It’s an incredibly beautiful song. It’s already become so that before I didn’t feel it at all – and swayed from the first audition. I’m already thinking that This, perhaps, is one of my favorite songs to Okean Elzy.”
“The filming of the film gave us, musicians, the unique opportunity to look back at our journey at 30 Rocks. To remember such moments that few people remembered, and some didn’t even know. rehearsals, meetings, farewells, joys and difficulties, important decisions… And having guessed everything, you understand, how many moments were lost from the audience’s eyes. who would like to teach from the winter, who in different stages was partly life and path OE,” shared Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.
A lot of the archival material in the film itself can be accessed at a good speed – for example, clips that were on YouTube were mostly at a low speed, and were restored specifically for editing. There are also tracks that are not available on digital platforms. Behind the scenes, even more material was lost, and it was impossible to contain everything in the film.
“For me, as a great fan of Okean Elzy and music, it was an honor to be part of this great story. Because “Okean Elzy” and good music are the same for me. The film has many moments, For example, the history of the composition of the song “Without a Fight” – it’s a pity that, due to the interchange of timing, we could not show it more widely – the group performed, connected with historical performances in Ukraine: the concert. on Maidan 2013, perform on the front line, at the Olimpiysky, and especially the concert near the metro 2022 rock. It’s impossible to marvel at all these moments without getting goosebumps,” says Vadim Pereverzev.
The presentation of the film “Ocean of Elzy: Warding the Storm” was held at the Frank Theater, and now you can watch it in cinemas all over the country.
