Who Is Sean Strickland?
Strickland is an American mixed martial artist competing in the UFC’s middleweight division. He was born on February 27, 1991, in California. He began his professional career in 2008 and joined the UFC in 2014, having previously established his reputation in the King of the Cage promotion where he held a middleweight title.
Recognized for his intense fighting style and candid personality, Strickland rose to prominence when he defeated Israel Adesanya to claim the UFC middleweight championship in 2023. He subsequently regained the title in 2026, making him a two-time UFC middleweight champion.
Beyond the Octagon, Strickland has frequently garnered attention for his political stances and unfiltered remarks. He was once regarded as one of President Donald Trump’s most vocal proponents in combat sports and openly supported Trump throughout the 2024 election campaign. However, their association has become more complex recently, with Strickland publicly voicing criticism of Trump’s foreign policy and allegiance to Israel.

Indeed. Despite not being on the official roster of attendees for UFC Freedom 250, Strickland was present at the UFC Fan Fest held on the Ellipse, adjacent to the White House, on June 14, 2026. He interacted with fans and briefly stepped into a wrestling ring before drawing the notice of security and law enforcement.

Why Was Sean Strickland Removed From the White House UFC Event?
Strickland was escorted out of the UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest by agents of the U.S. Secret Service, U.S. Park Police, and other law enforcement bodies after his appearance attracted a substantial gathering of attendees.
“The unexpected presence of Sean Strickland attracted significant attention from attendees, leading to a disturbance,” stated the Public Information Office of the United States Park Police. “Due to apprehensions regarding Strickland’s safety and the well-being of event patrons, personnel from the U.S. Marshals Service, U.S. Park Police, and other cooperating agencies safely removed him from the vicinity.” The authorities clarified that “Strickland was neither issued a citation nor taken into custody in relation to the incident. However, he was advised against returning to the location for his own safety and that of the public.”
White stated that Strickland had not been formally prohibited from the event, explaining that he was simply not invited due to space constraints.
