The streaming arena is undergoing transformations, with Paramount+ at the heart of significant adjustments. Following the Paramount-Skydance merger, leadership has been concentrating on optimizing operations. Consequently, subscribers can anticipate notable changes in the coming months, including the discontinuation of a streaming platform and alterations to subscription fees.

For individuals, these developments prompt crucial inquiries regarding Paramount+’s trajectory, encompassing the content that will persist on the service and whether subscription expenses will escalate considerably. Here’s what is currently understood about the Paramount+ modifications.

Which Streamers Will Paramount Discontinue?

The most prominent alteration involves the cessation of BET+. Paramount Skydance has declared that the standalone streaming service will halt operations in June 2026, with its content catalog being integrated directly into Paramount+. BET+ programming, encompassing series, films, and specials, will be relocated to a dedicated BET section within Paramount+.

Existing BET+ subscribers are expected to receive proposals to migrate to Paramount+ subscriptions.

This action aligns with Skydance’s approach to diminish fragmentation across its streaming offerings and centralize content onto fewer platforms. Instead of sustaining multiple specialized subscription services, the corporation seems focused on establishing Paramount+ as the primary destination.

Concurrently, various reports indicate that Paramount Skydance also intends to consolidate Paramount+ and HBO Max into a singular streaming platform subsequent to its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery. Although both services are presently accessible independently, executives have publicly affirmed their objective to establish a unified service featuring content from both libraries.

What Is the Current Cost of Paramount+?

Paramount+ provides two main subscription tiers within the United States. The Essential plan, which features advertisements, is priced at $8.99 per month. The Premium plan, which omits most ads and offers supplementary features such as access to local CBS affiliates and Showtime, is available for $13.99 per month.

Pricing was adjusted in January 2026 as part of a company-wide rate revision.

Will the Price of Paramount+ Be Raised?

Although Paramount+ underwent a price increase at the beginning of 2026, industry experts suggest that further hikes are plausible. The company has explicitly stated its intention to allocate substantial investments into streaming content, sports broadcasting rights, and platform enhancements under Skydance’s management. These commitments could ultimately result in additional adjustments to subscription prices.

Another consideration is the proposed amalgamation of Paramount+ and HBO Max. Should a combined service be launched, it is widely anticipated that the pricing would surpass that of current standalone subscriptions due to the considerably expanded content library. However, Paramount Skydance has not yet disclosed any definitive pricing structure for a merged platform.
