Who Abducts Coop in Season 2, Episode 8?
As episode 9 begins, the identity of Coop’s abductor remains uncertain. Initially, he is found bound to a chair with a sack over his head. When masked individuals show Coop footage of his visit to Liv Cross (Kitty Hawthorne), they issue a warning, demanding that the “money remains untouched.”

Fortunately, Coop is liberated and rushes back to his residence to ensure Hunter (Donovan Colan) and Tori (Isabel Gravitt) are unharmed. Upon observing them asleep and secure, Coop experiences nausea and retches into the sink. He then watches over his children, quietly confronting his internal struggles.
Following a confrontation with Ashe (James Marsden) — who appears to be the most probable suspect — Ashe asserts his innocence regarding the abduction, stating that such methods are not his practice. He even offers to assist in the investigation of the kidnappers.
Do Mel & Coop Reconcile in Season 2?
No. Despite the evident chemistry between Coop and Mel (Amanda Peet), they do not reunite by season 2, episode 9. Both remain unattached. Mel is exploring her sensuality and independence as she navigates menopause and begins a romantic liaison with Miguel.

Who Perishes in Season 2, Episode 9?
Toward the conclusion of season 2’s penultimate episode, a dispute erupts between Coop and Ashe. Nick (Mark Tallman) and Barney (Hoon Lee) attempt to de-escalate the situation during their gathering.
As Coop expresses his anger towards Ashe, Ashe draws a firearm, bringing silence to Coop and the others. Nick unsuccessfully tries to disarm Ashe, but the struggle causes Ashe to stumble backward into his fireplace. His robe ignites, and he flees down the hallway, pursued by Nick, Barney, and Coop, only to fall backward again.
As Ashe lies on the floor, Barney assesses his vital signs and declares him deceased just as the fire alarm is triggered.
