The Devil Wears Prada 2 is finally here, debuting almost 20 years after the initial movie became a quintessential fashion-era gem. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci all made their comebacks, with the follow-up happening within a contemporary media setting, portraying Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs as they contend with the dwindling influence of printed publications and encounter Emily, who is now a prominent executive in the commercial side of the fashion world.
However, one well-known personality did not reappear for the new installment. Adrian Grenier, who played Andy Sachs’ partner, Nate, is not featured in the continuation. His non-participation has reignited discussions regarding the character and his function in the original storyline.
Grenier even made a playful reference to the situation in a recent advertisement for Starbucks, connected to the sequel’s launch. “You might have seen the news — I wasn’t invited to participate in a certain sequel,” he mentions in the advertisement, adding, “But I’m fine. Seriously. It’s all positive vibes.” He then raises a beverage and jokes, “So, a tribute to Nate… He crafted a fantastic sandwich, he was fond of his girlfriend… to a degree,” before admitting, “He wasn’t flawless,” and concluding, “So let’s bid farewell to Nate in 2006 and maintain this favorable energy.”
So, what is the reason for his absence, and where do Nate and Andy stand following the initial film? Here’s what you should know.

Who Does Adrian Grenier Portray in The Devil Wears Prada?

Do Nate and Andy Separate at the Conclusion of The Devil Wears Prada?
Indeed, Nate and Andy go their separate ways midway through the movie as their relationship declines. Nevertheless, by the concluding moments, the two reconnect in New York City and conclude matters on an optimistic note, implying they might be receptive to reconciling.
Why Isn’t Adrian Grenier Appearing in The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Grenier does not appear in The Devil Wears Prada 2. Early reports suggested that a brief appearance was under consideration during development, but ultimately it didn’t come to fruition, and Grenier has expressed that he wasn’t requested to step into the role once more. He has also recognized that critical feedback from fans regarding Nate’s character throughout the years may have had a role in the choice to omit him from the sequel.
Director David Frankel verified that scheduling constraints were the primary concern. “I entertained the idea of discreetly including him in a brief appearance, and, in the end, it was simply too close to our production deadline to make it happen,” he shared with Entertainment Weekly, pointing out that the film was finalized in less than a month before its scheduled premiere.
