The location is Volodymyrska Street. And no, it's not just a desire to save on renting a room. It turns out that this is the very place where Volodymyr the Great's guest house stood a thousand years ago. That is, he is going to celebrate his wedding at the place where the first historical christenings and banquets of the times of Kyivan Rus took place.
There will be about a hundred guests. But Yevhen immediately knocks down the level of expectations: no Great Gatsby-style party. It is understandable, the time for magnificent festivities is currently the most inappropriate.
Instead, the couple is preparing a revival of ancient Ukrainian traditions. Not just to make an aesthetic picture for Instagram, but to put some adequate meaning and respect for their own identity into it.
This is how the chef himself describes this holiday:
“We don't plan to celebrate the wedding in a restaurant. We plan to celebrate in another place, but also not far from here on the street. It will be somewhere in June. Here, right here, 1,000 years ago, there was a guest house of Volodymyr the Great. This street is called Volodymyrska. It was here that baptisms were held, families were right here, right here, right on this spot, because excavations say so. And Kyiv was founded there. Therefore, 1,000 years ago, there was already, how to say it, a restaurant here. There will be Ukrainian traditions, all of this will be very cool. Well, I think we will invite 100 people. It will not be a party, but a celebration of traditions. We want to live, revive traditions and show everyone that if you want to revive them, do it. This will be an example, a symbol, because we thought not to do it, but it seems to me that now is the time when traditions should live and be used.”
