The esteemed 53-year-old passed away in February 2026, not even a year following his public announcement of being diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). As the third season of the beloved HBO show unfolds, audiences are seeing the concluding scenes that Eric collaborated on near his life’s end, notably the nuptial sequence featuring Nate and Cassie. Therefore, at what precise moment did he film all of his segments?

When Received His ALS Diagnosis?
Eric shared the news of his ALS diagnosis in April of 2025, a year preceding the debut of Euphoria’s season 3.
What Does ALS Mean?
ALS goes by the alternate name of Lou Gehrig’s syndrome. It’s an uncommon progressive ailment leading to muscular paralysis, gradually diminishing a patient’s capabilities in speech, eating, locomotion, and independent respiration. Individuals with this condition typically initially have muscular spasms in a limb, then experience blurred speech.
During Which Time Frame Did Eric Dane Film His Euphoria Season 3 Parts?
Considering that the main filming stage commenced for season 3 during February 2025, Eric more than likely filmed his parts within that period and the close of 2025 when they finalized production.
After divulging his ALS diagnosis, the Grey’s Anatomy graduate communicated that it would “require approximately 20 to 30 days for the filming of one episode of Euphoria. And that in itself, is quite a treat.”
“When I was on the set of Bad Boys, it was rare to film more than three pages within a day; achieving three pages meant it was a hectic day,” he shared with Variety during June 2025. “And that kind of tempo is much more ideal for an artist. Quite early on, I grasped the rhythm involved when you shoot for eight to ten days to wrap up an episode. Although it becomes second nature, I have to admit that it can get very exhausting at times.”
During the course of the conversation, the performer indicated that he would consistently “endeavor to make unique choices” while personifying his role, Cal Jacobs. He would uncover “ample opportunities” to build on his character.
“There are multiple instances for exploration that you might not come across when completing one episode within eight days— when the scene does not comprise of many takes, thereby constricting your chances of deepening your character,” he elaborated.
When Did Eric Dane Pass Away?
Sadly, Eric passed away on February 19, 2026. Season 3 of Euphoria premiered two months later.
