From micro-bangs to 1990s layers: the main spring haircut trends

Every spring, this specific nervous request for renewal appears in the air. Somewhere between the desire to free up and fly to Bali, we usually choose a more budget option – we make an appointment at the salon. As someone who has been watching the cycle of trends for years, I can say with confidence: hair fashion has finally stopped demanding a daily feat from us. It seems that the industry is also tired of perfectly licked hairstyles that require two hours before work, and offers us to legalize a little chaos, informs Ukr.Media.

Short bangs

Baby bangs, or micro-bangs, are that element that looks like you left a child alone with nail clippers and then decided there was some concept to it. This trend is rolling in waves, made us grab our heads in 2018, triumphantly flashed recently and is back here again. Its main superpower is that it instantly makes the face the center of the Universe, drawing all the attention away from the bags under the eyes. But here a cold calculation is required: on square or heart-shaped faces, this radical geometry often looks more comical than conceptual.

Birkin Bangs

If micro-bangs are skydiving, then the classic French bangs in the style of Jane Birkin are business class comfort. It's for those of us who want to add a bit of Parisian sophistication to our look, but aren't ready for radical experiments. It grows out beautifully, doesn't require touch-ups every two weeks, and creates the illusion that you just woke up, had a coffee and croissant, and went out to conquer the world without even looking in the mirror.

Soft step

Remember the days when the shag was synonymous with aggressive rock and roll and required a corresponding wardrobe? Now stylists seem to have taken a sedative and started making softer, more humane versions. This is a salvation for thin hair that lacks volume. The whole trick is in the texture and the correct difference in length between the strands. The main rule of modernity is that hair should move with you, and not lie like a static helmet, cemented with extra-strong fixation varnish.

Multi-layered in the spirit of the 1990s

Nostalgia continues to sell us our own memories. If you once sighed over Rachel Green's hairstyle, now the industry is literally screaming that the time has come. In order not to look like you're stuck in the last century, this vintage volume is now mixed with a torn cascade. Yes, you will have to remember how to hold a brush in your hands and train your biceps while drying. But the beauty of this shape is that even without the ritualistic dances with a hairdryer, in its natural state, it looks no less interesting. Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy knew what she was doing when she chose this haircut for her New York everyday life.

Sloppy bob

We're all tired of strict geometric cuts that require perfect posture and a life without wind. Closer to the warmth, you want to release this tension. An airy elongated bob, which is now appearing in Hailey Bieber's photo, or a multi-layered bob in the style of Sofia Richie, is in use. The point is that the shape should seem a little careless, loose, as if you didn't try too hard to look good, although in reality your master conjured over this cut for an hour and a half.

Mod

A haircut that was once considered the territory of exclusively male dressing rooms and is now worn by Paul Mescal and Jacob Elordi. But gender lines in fashion have long since faded, and now we look at Zendaya or remember Trinity from The Matrix. It is a very short hairstyle that gives enormous freedom. It looks equally convincing when it is glamorously combed for a night out, and when it is simply tousled with your hands after a shower, saving a lot of time for something more pleasant than styling.

Natural curl shape

The dictatorship of the perfect curl is finally falling. Industry experts predict a return to soft shapes that work with what your genetics gave you, rather than breaking it at the knee. It's about a natural step with inner layers. No more exhausting yourself trying to force each curl to lie in a perfect spiral. The focus has shifted to the shape of the haircut allowing the curls to breathe and not weighing them down. Even when by evening the curls fall apart and start living their own lives, the hairstyle should remain cool and lively.
