Admirers are anxiously anticipating the upcoming season 2 finale of Apple TV’s The Last Thing He Told Me. Adapted from the follow-up book by Laura Dave, The First Time I Saw Him, the story resumes five years after Hannah (Jennifer Garner) and Bailey (Angourice Rice) were compelled to adjust to a changed existence without Owen (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). New individuals were brought into the fold this season, notably the enigmatic Quinn (Judy Greer).
For those acquainted with the narrative through the book, Quinn has been a known presence from the start. Thus, is she genuinely a benevolent figure, or do her dialogues with the Campano clan suggest impending difficulty for Hannah and Bailey?

Judy portrays Quinn, the progeny of Frank Campano, otherwise known as the crime ringleader at the heart of the predicament. Notably, she shares a history with Bailey’s departed mother, Katherine Smith; the pair were intimate friends before Katherine’s passing.

Is Quinn a Force for Good or Ill in The Last Thing He Told Me? Book Compared to Show
Those who’ve perused The First Time I Saw Him already recognize Quinn as a pivotal adversary. Within the sequel’s confines, Quinn displays a protective nature toward her kin, albeit without aspirations of succeeding to her father’s dominion.
In the series, however, Quinn at first states to Bailey that she maintains no bonds with the Campanos. Quite rapidly, Bailey places her trust in Quinn, convening with her repeatedly to unearth the realities surrounding her late mother’s demise. As viewers approach the season 2 conclusion, it’s imminent that they will discover the plans of the creative minds regarding Quinn.
Regarding Judy, the star of 13 Going on 30 expressed that it is “challenging to embody someone harboring numerous secrets,” in an exclusive discussion with Hollywood Life.
“I believe it presents a challenge when I concurrently aim to ground Quinn, speaking as Judy. I feel it’s vital for this individual to possess human qualities,” Judy pointed out. Moreover, rather than portraying Quinn as an “unscrupulous villain,” Judy elucidated the rationale behind her “sympathy” for the role.
“My main objective was to capture the internal battle regarding her intense desire to cultivate a connection with Bailey,” Judy carried on. “I posit that Quinn, in an alternate rendition of Owen/Ethan, Bailey/Kristen, would have been an essential presence in Bailey’s life.”
Is There a Season 3 of The Last Thing He Told Me?
As of this writing, Apple TV has not yet committed to a renewal for a third season of the series. Given that Laura’s 2026 novel, The First Time I Saw Him, served as the inspiration for season 2, it remains unclear how Apple TV might progress with a season 3.
During a separate exchange with Hollywood Life before the season 2 debut, Judy recounted her feelings upon becoming a member of the cast, likening it to “entering an exceptional family and hoping not to disrupt anything, nor to face expulsion from the family.” As a prior collaborator with Jennifer on 13 Going on 30, the actress of Halloween also commented on their rekindled partnership.
“Collaborating with Jen is wonderful because I hold her in high regard as an actress,” Judy conveyed. “Evidently, we share a close friendship; it’s genuinely pleasing to receive compensation for spending time with individuals you cherish.”
