Drivers shocked researchers with their confessions during an international survey. It turned out that approximately 15% of motorists had at least one sexual encounter while driving.
“We were absolutely shocked when we reviewed the responses from drivers,” said Joanna Forsberg, CEO of the headphone company that conducted the survey. “The things people do when their full attention should be focused on the road!”
According to her, 72% of drivers admitted to eating while driving, 35% changing clothes, 29% kissing, 13% applying makeup, 10% reading newspapers or magazines, and 5% shaving. Most respondents talked on the phone without using a hands-free device, even though this is required by law in many countries.
This survey was conducted in April 2010 in the United States, Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and Japan among nearly two thousand drivers aged 18 to 65 who drive more than ten hours a week. The goal of the study was to encourage drivers to use hands-free devices and headsets in their cars.
The British were recognized as the most law-abiding, while the worst offenders were the Japanese, who, while behind the wheel, entertain themselves with video games, watch movies, and pay attention to musical equipment.
Of course, all offenders acknowledge their guilt. Survey respondents believe that the most dangerous activities while driving are using a laptop, having sex, and texting.
