Like everything in the beauty and fashion world, perfume trends evolve cyclically. At the same time, new motifs appear every year – in perfumery, these are notes that shape future preferences. In 2026, not only chords change, but also the approach to perfumes.
As Autumn West, beauty director at Nordstrom in the US, notes, the idea of having one “personal” scent is gradually losing relevance. “People are more open than ever to experimenting, combining scents, and perceiving perfume as an accessory that can be changed depending on the mood or season. Loyalty to favorite scents remains, but at the same time the desire to discover new ones is growing,” she says.

As a result, a so-called “perfume wardrobe” is formed – a collection of fragrances, which are chosen just like clothes. Some days you want classics, others – experiments. A vivid example is the return of perfumed body mists, which are no longer associated exclusively with teenage cosmetics. Today, these are more adult, sophisticated formulas that become part of a full-fledged care ritual.

At the same time, Autumn West notes that there are clearly some trend notes on the market. Their popularity is growing in parallel with the interest in niche perfumes, which is actively fueled by TikTok and #FragranceTok. It is there that users discover lesser-known brands, unconventional compositions and new approaches to fragrances. “It is especially interesting to watch the evolution of fruit notes. Today they sound much more complex and at the same time fresher,” West adds. Another favorite is matcha, which has turned from a morning drink into a full-fledged perfume trend.
Top perfume trends of 2026
Floral-fruity aromas
“Fruits and berries are the unexpected stars of the season, but in a completely new interpretation,” says Autumn West. It's no longer about sweet and nostalgic body sprays, but about multi-layered, sensual compositions. They combine brightness, depth and warmth and create a more complex sound. Modern fruit aromas are moving away from excessive sweetness in favor of nuances: notes of cherry, peach and citrus often appear in new releases.

Perfumed body mists
“The cities have grown up with the generation that chose them in their youth,” says Chriselle Lim, Phlur’s creative director. Today, it’s not a return to teenage fragrances, but a reinterpretation of them for a more discerning audience. The cities fit perfectly into today’s beauty routine: they are light, versatile, and allow you to personalize your scent. Perfume is no longer limited to a single application, but today it is a multi-layered experience. Hair, body, and layering products help play with intensity and texture, adding depth to your favorite scent.

Matcha-infused fragrances
The popularity of matcha has reached such a level that it has even caused a shortage of raw materials. It is logical that the trend has gone far beyond coffee shops. In the beauty industry, matcha has long been present in skin care, and now it is actively appearing in perfumes. Its appeal lies in its characteristic sound: creamy, green, slightly herbal, often balanced by sweeter notes. Some brands emphasize the calming, almost meditative aspect of matcha and combine it with woody chords. Others are betting on gourmet interpretations. It is expected that the big players will soon join the trend.

Niche fragrances
The rise of niche perfumery is largely due to TikTok, where #FragranceTok has turned fragrance discovery into digital word-of-mouth. This interest is also taking off, with independent perfume boutiques opening up and demand for unique compositions only growing. Niche brands are attracting attention for their craftsmanship, quality, and unconventional approach. This is what resonates with today’s consumers, who are looking for novelty and authenticity.

Non-standard fragrance formats
Perfumery is no longer limited to the classic bottle. Brands are experimenting with textures and formats, blurring the line between fragrance and care. New products include milky body tonics, solid perfumes, and oil formulas that combine perfumery and skin care. Hybrid care textures are also emerging that can even be applied to hair.
