Circa 2019, a 4chan user nudged others to contribute “unsettling” visuals that affected them deeply. One user responded with a snapshot of a room bathed in yellow light, closely mirroring the setting displayed in the 2026 horror production.

Who Composes the Backrooms Movie Ensemble?

Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve spearhead the cast of the “Backrooms” cinematic piece.

Chiwetel has graced the screen in a multitude of films, including such titles as “Love Actually,” “Four Brothers,” “Children of Men,” “Endgame,” “2012,” “Salt,” “The Martian,” “Doctor Strange,” and “Venom: The Last Dance.” Regarding Renate, she headlined the Academy Award-nominated “Sentimental Value” and previously took part in “Presumed Innocent.”

Rounding out the cast are Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett, Lukita Maxwell, and Avan Jogia. Mark was recently showcased in “The Morning Show” and has collaborated as a writer and performer in the “Creep” movie series and its adjunct series, “The Creep Tapes.” Finn is cast in “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” Lukita is currently featured in “Shrinking,” and Avan garnered recognition for his part in the adolescent sitcom “Victorious” and, most recently, in “56 Days.”
