The news of Alex’s passing was shared by his family and his friend, Hilarie Steele, through his GoFundMe page. This page was established in February 2025 to aid with covering his medical expenses. As of this writing, the fundraiser has garnered over $121,000.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we inform you that our cherished Alex peacefully departed this morning, encompassed by affection and close friends. He was at peace and thankfully free from suffering,” read an update posted on March 28, 2026. “We are heartbroken, yet profoundly thankful for the encouragement, prayers, and kindness you have all displayed during this incredibly challenging period.”

As previously stated, Alex worked as both an actor and a comedian. Of Vietnamese and Chinese heritage, he was raised in Dallas, Texas, before he relocated to Los Angeles, California, to advance his career in entertainment.

“At this moment, Alex is battling for his very existence. He has developed septic shock, a critical and potentially fatal infection that has overwhelmed his system,” Hilarie shared on the page on March 27, 2026, one day before she announced his passing. “He is in the hospital, and the situation is dire. Everything has rapidly deteriorated.”

Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma signifies an uncommon and forceful cancer impacting the soft tissues. During his final months, he experienced vision loss in one eye after a malignant mass began obstructing blood circulation to his optic nerve, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.
During 2025, Alex underwent a surgical procedure to extract the malignant formation situated behind his eye; unfortunately, his ordeal was far from completion.
