The film “Spring-Summer” combines personal stories, archives and backstage footage of fashion shows. 18 designers, fashion influencers and celebrities who wear Ukrainian will together answer the question: how is fashion born when there is war all around? Among the heroes are Ruslan Baginsky, Ivan Frolov, Anna Oktyabr, Yulia Pelipas, Svitlana Bevza, Jamala, Nadya Dorofeeva, Iryna Danylevska, Maria Gavrylyuk and Natalia Kamenska, Liliya Litkovska and Venya Brykalin.

The film begins with footage of Ruslan Baginskiy's team preparing for a presentation in Paris, and at the same time, the viewer sees a cut of Ukrainian hats being tried on by the most famous stars on the planet, and hears Iryna Danylevska's voice: “Your idea should captivate people, you never follow the crowd, you are always ahead and with the understanding that you may not be understood, you may not be approved and not bought in the end, but you do it.” These words aptly describe the creative search of each of the designers we see in the film. Behind each of these names is a recognizable style and an extraordinary success story – someone could not find their perfect jeans, someone made the world start wearing hats again, and someone has been drawing in lessons since childhood, and now her “dresses for first dates” are worn by girls from Los Angeles to Hong Kong. In almost an hour and a half of the film, we see how the idea and desire to create grow into an international business, and the study of one's own roots and traditions becomes the strongest foundation. “We didn't know how to do it right, so we did it the way we felt,” says Ksenia Schneider in the film. And these words also eloquently describe the Ukrainian fashion industry – somewhat chaotic and rebellious, but original and relentless.

“We want to show how cool Ukrainian fashion is. Today, our designers dress Beyoncé, show collections at major Fashion Weeks, rethink authenticity — and make it something that is in demand. In reality, where it seems impossible to create, fashion appears that captivates the world. But where did it all start? This is exactly what we explore in our film,” concludes Andriy Haidut, founder of SKVOT.
